Winter brings with it a crisp and clean milieu, and drawing from this seasonal change, the SA Weddings team took inspiration from the Karoo- an area well known for its extremes. A place where we felt winter was best represented; the minimalism of the backdrop adds a certain kind of magic to the dramatic setting. Vast stretches of space, arid vegetation, and colours that highlight the beautiful simplicity and balance found in nature allowed us a honeypot of inspiration. When we think of South African weddings, the highlight reel floods with images of elegant wine farms, bucket-list bush lodges, and sprawling beachfront but the diversity of this place we call home, reminds us that there’s beauty in the backroads too. With the focus on old-world charm and the warmth of the people behind these quaint old Karoo towns, we teamed up with SA born international photographer extraordinaire, Natalie Shelton, to capture the magic of ‘Fossil Hills’ in the Karoo.
The Rose Room perfected the brief, creating a bouquet and flower-crown that so aptly embodied the succulents and berries of the surrounding scenery and the cake by Lehanie Muller showcased the beautiful simplicity of farm-style living, with the top tier in lace, added ribbon and natural wood base adding a little extra charm.
