I had just landed back from a gorgeous trip to Bodrum with my girlfriends. Upon arrival home there were rose petals everywhere, champagne, a cheese platter and our cats sitting with some ribbon around them! I knew once I opened the door what was coming. We celebrated the next day at the Bulgari Hotel in Dubai. Jaryd bought me the most magnificent pear shape diamond ring!
I booked Tracy from Trunk Events around 1 year before the actual wedding date. So, planning with her and her amazing team made it easier. I definitely did use SA weddings while I was searching for venues. It was stressful at times planning the wedding in SA and living in Dubai so I ensured I visited CT at least 3 x to confirm everything before the actual date.
I work in retail so I am fortunate to be able to travel a lot and am surrounded by gorgeous colour palettes and loads of inspiration. I used this combined with of Pintrest pictures and magazine articles to plan accordingly.
The Bedekken – which is the Jewish tradition of the groom coming to meet his bride after not seeing each other for 7 days. Also being surrounded by friends and family from all over the world.
I started with the venue – Moreson Wine Farm. It has the most magnificent garden and I wanted to enhance that with colour palette of navy, rust, gold and creams. I don’t really like rustic so made sure to have unique elements of gold.
I was inspired by a wedding dress by Lebanese designer Saiid Kobeisy and re designed it with a few amendments. I also wanted an ivory gown with unique details. My bridesmaids could select what suited them as long as they stuck to the palette of navy, cream or rich rust. We co -ordinated this well having everyone all over the world.
I loved the idea of having a unique colour palette. I selected all the hanging flowers from a market in china and shipped them in. I also wanted to have blue and white vases to bring in the navy element along with gold highlights. The hanging bulbs and hanging flowers were always on the original plan.
I shipped in scarves from India, Kippot from Miami and Flip Flops. I also brought in fabric to wrap our little bread rolls. (we also use this fabric for the Chuppah) But did not make anything ourselves.
Jess Glynne “Take me Home” The words have deep meaning for Jaryd and I. As we moved to Dubai 4 years ago, it has been tough but we have always leaned one another.
Standing under the chuppah with Hebrew songs being sung with my family and friends surrounding us in the most gorgeous garden was most special. Also our first dance which we went for many lessons in Dubai – worked out perfectly. Jaryd’s speech was exceptional – he surprised us all!
Get a wedding planner and start planning way in advance so once you get to the date most things are paid for. I found paying for something every month leading up to the wedding really helped. On the day everything goes by so fast – take it all in and enjoy every minute!
We are probably going to do a road trip from San Fran to LA or go to Turks and Caicos. We have been very fortunate that we have been to so many amazing places already together.
