Our love story began in 2012 on a bus on our way to a Western Cape Outreach. I met my husband in September 2012 and ever since not a day has gone by that I have not thought about him in much love. His first words were hello and from there we started talking and soon noticed we had a lot in common. About 1 year later he asked me out and I said yes.
We went for a walk in Klein-Brak River close to Mosselbaai, soon we were close to the beach and I realised how nervous he was. As soon as we walked on the beach 50metres away was a neatly packed out beach picnic with our favourite red wine and camembert cheese. We sat a while and had some wine, we started walking towards the sunset as it was beautiful and reflecting from the waters. As we approached the waters he went down on one knee and asked me to marry him and I said Yes!
The planning process was so much fun, as you know it mostly only happens once in you lifetime and I enjoyed it so much to plan our wedding. Especially the decor, that was my favourite part of the planning. I definitely used SAWeddings.co.za as it had so much inspirational ideas on. I loved going on and using the directory list as I knew it was reputable suppliers.
My main inspiration was drawn from pinterest, there were a million looks of every idea I had and I could explore a lot. I also love using South African Wedding Blog especially photography blogs like www.carolienandben.co.za as they had shot so many weddings with different ideas, from DIY weddings to wild destinations.
It was definitely the getting-ready-for-my-future husband part that was so special to me, as I knew I was getting ready to say I DO!
We had a non-traditional Romantic Floral theme with the colours: white, light pink and spots of red here and there.
I was looking for a dress I have never seen anywhere and wanted something completely different, I Googled different international wedding dress designers and so my picture was drawn step-by-step with different ideas all in one. My designer Casper Bosman has the most amazing way of making your dream dress using your own ideas. He truly is a star! For my bridesmaids I had something soft and romantic in mind, and I must say they truly looked beautiful.
Yes I definitely love the floral look and thats why I went for a romantic look with big floral runners running down the table. I also had a romance era in mind and thats why I chose long thin candles to stick out of the flower runners and short golden votives.
No DIY items were incorporated
We chose The Paper Kites: Drifting as our wedding dance song
Definitely the moment the Pastor asked my husband if he will take me as his wife, he yelled out YES before the question was even finished. Everyone had such a laugh!
ENJOY EVERY MOMENT! You will never be able to get any moment over again so try and enjoy every part of your wedding including the planning months. Do as much research as you can with regards to suppliers available etc, and as soon as you found the suppler that you want, make sure to book them as soon as possible as they are booked out months in advance.
Yes we went to Zanzibar, it was an amazing experience I would recommend it to anyone!
Barefeet loves nothing more than the opportunity to capture these once-in-a-lifetime memories in the most natural, authentic and captivating way.
