It was toward the end of lockdown and Jack took me to a little island called St Marguerite off the coast of Cannes France. We were alone on a beach having a picnic and about 15 minutes in he got up on one knee and proposed!
I LOVED the planning process. It was so wonderful, an absolute dream, SA Weddings has a fab directory that opened so many avenues and options right off the bat. Once we picked Nooitgedacht and Trunk Events they assisted with the rest.
Pinterest! My mood board has been growing since I was young. I took all the ideas and photos and knew I wanted a forest theme, I sent the moodboards in pdf form to Trunk Events and NConcepts and they made it come to life. I still have the moodboards today and love to look at them and compare them to my actual wedding day.
Oh my goodness where to start. Honestly trying to pinpoint one moment? I think first and foremost, because we live in the UK with my husbands family, but my friends and family are in SA, having everyone together was a dream. In terms of the actual wedding, having my ideas come to life and seeing the magic that I envisioned, there was nothing like it.
Forest! I wanted people to feel like they were in another world and the teams absolutely did that! I am naturally detail orientated and so from the foliage, to the towels in the bathrooms, to my nails, all were on theme.
Once again it all came down to the theme. My dress was inspired by the roots of the trees which was thanks to Sadie Bosworth and her amazing creativity and talent. My bridesmaids were in a range of emerald dresses I let them choose from an overseas store.
I think you may have noticed by now, the greenery and forestry was important to me. Walking into the hall you were overwhelmed with the gorgeous smell of eucalyptus which was hanging from the ceiling.
Not really, coming from the UK and having a large gathering beforehand, going on game drives and visiting wine farms didn’t leave much time for pre-wedding prep, I also wanted a stress free run up to the wedding in order to enjoy it with friends and family which I absolutely did.
Make you feel my love by Adele. My husband and I love Adele, he bought me tickets to see her live for my belated 30th and it just felt right. The words of the song are so special.
Definitely the moment after the ceremony, Jack and I went to sit on our own for the “signing of the registry” (which we didn’t do because we got legally married in the UK) but we sat down and had a special moment to ourselves to just say “wow".
If you are looking for a hands off experience but still want your idea to shine then find a planner who understands your vision and will take the stress off your shoulders, absolute best decision we made.
Not yet, we are almost a year down the line and we do plan to have one but because it was technically a destination wedding and we did have a good holiday tagged on. Hopefully Maldives is in our horizon.
Being a part of your celebration in some small way makes my work so much more rewarding.
