It was so special. He knows that my family and our farm is close to my heart so he organised that everyone will be on the farm for the weekend to surprise me. We celebrated for 60 hours it was amazing!!!
When he visited me at the farm he took me for a drive. We went to a picnic spot on the farm where there was a picnic basket set up with Pieter Bruwer Champagne (my favourite) and a bowl of lindt chocolates in a beautiful glass bowl. We spend some time alone and then family and friends surprised us and the celebrations started.
We had such fun planning every fine detail of the wedding. With two sisters and a mother who each collected ideas and mailed lots of photographs, the planning process was a breeze. I had more than enough inspiration (some sourced from SA Weddings) and knew exactly what I wanted.
I used SAWeddings.co.za, The Pretty blog and Pinterest for inspiration.
The special moments were too many to single out one. The ceremony took place on the deck where we were surrounded by the overwhelming noise of the waves - the violists could not compete with the waves. It was the most perfect day. A special feature was lots of BIG, white helium balloons all around the venue. The pre-drinks venue was on the Hotel's rooftop overlooking the misty ocean and Wilderness, it was spectacular! The MOST special moment: You are now husband and wife ☺
My theme was inspired by The Views Boutique Hotel Wilderness : SIMPLICITY. The hero of the day was the sea and the picturesque VIEW. Olof loves the sea, so we wanted to get married as close as possible.
I saw one of Hendrik's dresses in SARIE BRUID and decided that when I get married, he will design my dress. At our first meeting with JD & Hendrik we felt special and they treated us with kindness. Every dress fitting was a special experience!
I always loved Hydrangeas. I chose them in the colour scheme of the sea. Flowers and décor are very important to me, so we had lots of flowers, candles and BIG, white helium balloons.
It is important to have someone on your wedding day that knows the 'game plan' and take control of everything! Enjoy the day….what can go wrong?
Yes, we did go on honeymoon. Our flight was booked on the Wednesday after the wedding so we had 2 days to travel from Wilderness to Cape Town Airport. We stayed at the lovely Halfaampieskraal Guest Farm. Cobus and Jan Georg spoiled us rotten, and even baked us a 'wedding cake' for our first night at their guesthouse.
