Our love story began on Tinder. We realized how many things we had in common and decided to meet face to face a few weeks later. Our jaws dropped in disbelief of how many times our paths had crossed- I lived on the same property as his best friend, he used to visit almost every week and even met my mother before meeting me! We were even part of the same church family and went to the same gym! God must have had a plan up His sleeve. It took awhile for us to finally meet but His timing was perfect.
The proposal happened over a period of 7 weeks! Ruanne designed a puzzle with a picture of us, a beautiful bible verse and an engagement ring as a sign of the next step in our relationship.
I was given a handful of puzzle pieces every few days as a surprise and soon enough I caught on that something big was beginning to happen. The anticipation and excitement grew stronger as the message become clearer to me. The last bits and pieces were found in my post-box which came along with an instruction to meet with him, in a specific rose garden. On my arrival I found my soon-to-be fiance with a fully prepared picnic and a huge smile on his face. He proposed and I was so overwhelmed that I could hardly even say a word, my heart was happier than it could have ever been!
I thoroughly enjoyed the planning process, I am a detail-oriented person so the process of bringing pieces together for the special day gave me lots to look forward to.
Inspiration was drawn from Pinterest, the tips and visuals made things come to life for me.
The most memorable part of my day was hearing all the speeches. Their words impacted me more than I think they were even aware of, they have hearts of gold.
We had a royal theme with a vintage twist.
The inspiration behind my wedding dress was more of a fairy-tale than anything. The bridal satin and ball-gown made me feel like a real princess, this was a dream-come-true!
The colors were navy blue and Champagne gold with spurts of blush pink. We were hoping for elegance and royalty, to create an atmosphere infused with honor to God.
The DIY items that we incorporated were the lawn games for a bit of entertainment and fun outside during the time that photo's were taken, as well as the wedding favors put together for each guest.
We chose Shania Twain's "From this Moment" for our opening dance because the words encapsulated the beginning of a special new season of our lives for us, as husband and wife.
My will-never-forget memory of the day was standing on top of a hill where we were taking photos. My husband used the opportunity to pray a special blessing over me. This is when everything had sunk in for me, all that happened in the ceremony and how our lives would be different from here on.
Our advice for those planning their special day would be to invest in a good photographer. This person spends the most time with you and captures memories for the years to come so you want to feel at ease. It could either make or break your day!
Having a good front-of-house manager at the venue is also crucial to allowing for service providers to work in unity, so make sure that this person in charge is just as willing and helpful as you need them to be.
We went to Long beach Resort in Mauritius, it was truly magical!
The Bridge is one of Muldersdrifts hidden treasures. We do not charge venue hire! An old converted farmhouse set in tranquil gardens beside the banks of the Wilgespruit.
