We went to Cape Town for the Argus 2017 Cycle event. He had planned to propose to me during the race as we came up Chapmans Peak. Unfortunately, due to severe weather the race was cancelled, so my then fiancé had to think fast on his feet. He took me up to Chapmans Peak anyway and dropped to his knees with gusting winds and cheering tourists around us. An absolutely unforgettable day
We only gave ourselves 5 months to plan our wedding so it was quite hectic, but fun and life enriching at the same time.
We got a few ideas from Pinterest but otherwise I always had my note books with many lists for us to work off (organised chaos)
It is so hard to decide on one special moment or memory as the whole day is unforgettable and unbelievably memorable – but to pick the one that’s most special…Declaring our forever love to each other on our 2 year anniversary and Having our families united to become one.
We didn’t really have a theme for the day besides Spring Happy and vibey feels enhanced by the colours we chose.
For the bridesmaids, I wanted them to be happy and comfortable and feel stunning on the day. The bright purple and short look made them all look amazing. I am very sporty and my best feature is my back and chest so I tried to enhance that with my dress with still keeping it simple and comfortable to stick with my down to earth simple nature.
We used purple and yellow flowers and had a sort of rustic feel to the tables and other décor. It was a spring wedding and the bright purple and yellow just brought such a happy feel to the day. We are also pretty down to earth and laid back so decided to incorporate the rustic idea as well.
Yes, we made our own thank you gifts and name tags for the tables, we also hung a few photos in the trees. We used petals picked from my mother’s garden as throw petals for after the ceremony.
Brandi Carlile – The Story. The words to this song ring so true for us and it has so much love and emotion in it. We also wanted to choose something that was unique to us.
My wife walking across the Bridge doing a little dance as she approached the aisle, that is where I knew I had made the best choice in marrying my best friend (the uncontrollable tears were evidence of this)
Be patient with each other during planning, it is such a great time of your life but can also be very life consuming and you get lost in trying to please others instead of celebrating your love. Enjoy enjoy enjoy as it goes by so fast!!!
Yes, we went to Zanzibar, it was the perfect island to celebrate becoming Mr and Mrs.
