I had a crush on Kendall when we were kids. We met in the 2nd grade, and I’d always give my snacks to her at lunchtime (Kendall: like the sweetheart he is!) We eventually lost touch, but I ran into her mother in a store one day. I asked for Kendall’s phone number, reached out and the rest is history! Thanks Mom!
We had an intimate proposal at home. Stephen was so cute because he could NOT wait to propose to me! We were both so excited to tell our family and friends that we were taking our relationship to the next level.
Our dream wedding couldn’t have happened without our wedding planner, Janice Kean of Kean Concepts. Luckily, we found her using SAWeddings.co.za! It was a breeze on our part; Jan handled every aspect of planning. She was in constant communication with us throughout the process - even with a 7-hour time difference! She made this entire experience one that we will remember forever!
The idea of getting married on top of a Natural Wonder of the World was Jan’s amazing idea! She worked directly with the Table Mountain team to provide us with a private space for the ceremony. Additionally, they prepared a delicious 3-course meal for us afterwards.
The most memorable and special part was getting married atop Table Mountain. The view from up there is absolutely breathtaking! Luckily, there was barely a cloud in the sky. It was a beautiful day to get married!
We did a 2 hour hike up Platteklip Gorge, one of Table Mountain’s hiking trails, 2 days before we got married on top of Table Mountain. So, our theme is “Table Mountain: Hiked & Hitched.” We love to hike the local mountains back home in Georgia, so we were looking forward to hiking Table Mountain. When Jan suggested having the ceremony up there, we were sold! It was symbolic of our relationship: As long as we have one another to encourage, support, protect, and challenge the other, we can withstand anything.
I love the vintage, “Hollywood” style so the minute I saw this dress, I knew it was the one!
I wanted a white bouquet that would be a showstopper. I had four requests: cascading arrangement (“classic” inspo), white flowers, monstera leaves (unique and provides a pop of color), King Protea flower as the focal point (to incorporate a bit of SA in the bouquet). Janice’s team took that and created the most beautiful wedding bouquet that I’ve ever seen.
No we did not incorporate any DIY items.
Best Part by Daniel Caesar and H.E.R. is our wedding song because we have taken a leap of faith with one another time and time again and no matter how far we go (even to the beautiful South African coast), we will have the other by their side.
As the officiant was speaking, my veil took flight in the wind! Luckily, it got wrapped around the photographer, so he was able to save it from flying off the mountain!
Yes, get yourself a wedding planner! Janice did a phenomenal job planning our special day and took care of the little touches including a schedule change the day before the wedding!! She handled vendor management, a special excursion for the groom, custom floral arrangement, dining arrangements and more!
Yes, we had the pleasure of doing a luxury safari at Mbazo in Pilanesburg, South Afica.
