Our love story began at a friend’s party where we felt our first spark of chemistry and from that moment on, we grew closer and fell in love over time.
We went to Moyos restaurant at Ushaka overlooking the beach. Juwaid handed me roses and a love letter he wrote for me. He got down on one knee and proposed. He even got the waiters involved to video the proposal.
It was relatively simple and stress-free as we had a very intimate wedding with only 30 people. I used SA weddings for inspiration and ideas.
We used Pinterest, various wedding websites and Instagram
Having our loved ones to be part of our special day. The reaction of our loved ones when we entered the venue will forever be imprinted in our memories.
Our theme was rose gold and elegant. We wanted it to be classy with a hint of modern colours.
Elegant and vintage with lace and beadwork (my dress). My bridesmaids got to choose their own dresses, own style, colour, etc.
My engagement ring was rose gold so that was my inspiration for the décor and flowers. We picked all the décor items and the flowers that complemented the ring.
We designed and printed the wedding menus in addition to the e-invitation we sent out to our guests.
We are Muslim thus having an opening dance is not traditional.
Seeing each other for the first time as husband and wife.
Our advice is:
- Enjoy every moment of it while still having quality time with your partner where there is no wedding talk at all.
- Have a budget and try to stick to it.
- Get a good photographer and make up artist. Your wedding pictures will be a lifetime remembrance of one of the best days of your lives.
We went to Protea Fire and Ice Hotel at Melrose Arch.
