A long time ago, a mutual friend introduced us. I was still living in Cape Town, and Leon was studding in George. We were just friend – whenever I was in town we would meet up for a beer or so. After I moved to George (about 4 years ago) we met for a coffee over lunch time and something just clicked
We went on a weekend away in the middle of winter – to a beautiful old little cottage in the “Matjiesvlei” valley at the foothills of the Swartberge. Leon made us breakfast the morning… he then blindfolded me and let me to the porch surrounded by mountains. He carefully sat me down and told me to take off the blindfold… in front of me was the most beautiful ring I ever saw and Leon asking me to marry his!
The planning wasn’t difficult, I had a lot of help from everyone. Yes definitely!
Pinterest and a lot of magazines/websites
Everything! But if I had to choose – the first time we saw each other
We didn’t really have a theme, but I like all things botanical and vintage. So, we had lots of greenery and naked bulbs hanging from the ceiling and flowers on the tables in soft colours.
Vintage and lace, but most of all comfortable
Not really. I got a few pictures I liked online to show the flower lady, and told her to go wild (within the budget of course). The result was absolutely amazing!
Yes, it was definitely a team effort. When I couldn’t find exactly what I had in mind – I would DIY
Froncios van Coke – Die wereld is Mal.
The world we live in might be crazy but you are the exception – and everything seems possible with you by my side.
Its unconventional we know
Leon’s speech…
I didn’t realise how busy the last 2 weeks was going to be – try to do everything you can do in advance before then.
Yes, we are big supporters of exploring your own country. We went on a road trip into the Great Karoo – exploring small towns and found amazing hidden Gems
