Drawn together through a passion for sport, Sean & Annie met at a rugby festival in Cape Town. From the first encounter we both knew there was something special and the courting began by Sean flying most weekends down to Cape Town where Annie was living at the time.
The proposal took place on Annies parent farm in the Midlands, Sean thought it was a perfect setting to ask for Annies hand in marriage surround by her family. We took a hike up to the highest peak on the farm with a perfect view before Sean dropped to one knee and popped the question.
The planning process was how we wanted our wedding to be, FUN. SAweddings.co.za was definitely on top of our list when searching for ideas.
We knew we wanted a farm wedding, one of our favourite things is a big family Sunday lunch and that is how we wanted our wedding to feel.
The wedding ceremony was definitely the pinnacle of memories of the day for both us, however it was really just the perfect day for both of us with so many special moments.
Our theme was the Sunday family lunch, we chose because Annie grew up on the farm, Sean loves spending time on the farm both of us just love the sunday family lunch feeling. Sharing a meal, drinking good wine and catching up with family is such a big part of our lives – what better way to celebrate the coming together of two families.
Annie knew she wanted something comfortable so she could enjoy the day, the sound of raw silk for the skirt was definitely something special and she just had to have pockets. Long sleeves were always something Annie had pictured for her dress. However, a Summer wedding makes this difficult. Annie did however make sure she got her dress with long sleeves that would come off at the time she wanted to party. The Bridesmaids dresses was most probably the most stressful part of the wedding. After hating the first dresses that were made, an attempt to rectify the problems also was unsuccessful, leaving Annie no time and no choice but to shoot down to PMB, Forever New and were lucky enough to find 6 beautiful dresses in all the right sizes
Our decor and flowers were put together by our loving family and friends. We had an idea in mind with the colours – soft pinks and blush to give a summer feel but keeping the natural feel – and our friends and family executed our vision perfectly
It was very much a DIY wedding where the whole bridal party and family and friends contributed their loving time to help put it all together.
Hall & Oates - You make my dreams
We both loved this song and felt like it really added to the celebratory atmosphere
For both of us it was definitely the moment we were at the alter together, about to commit ourselves to each other
Take everything in, enjoy the planning, and make sure you take a step back during the wedding and appreciate that everyone is there celebrating the both of you!
We honeymooned in USA, spending time in New York, New Orleans, San Francisco and Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
