We had been dating 5 years before getting engaged.
We are adventurous, spontaneous, loving, sporty, animal lovers, and compassionate people.
We travelled to Pontevedra, Spain, so Andrew could represent South Africa in the age group in the World Triathlon Championships. After the race, before we left for Barcelona, Andrew and I had a late-night stroll down the canal through the bluegum forests, just reflecting on life and the race. When it was time to head back, he bent down on one knee and proposed to me.
We wanted an engagement shoot before we left, and Ryno Stoltz, the photographer we hired for our wedding, offered one as part of his package. We wanted an engagement shoot to sum up our life in South Africa before migrating to Tasmania.
We did the engagement shoot at Rosemary Hill, we asked Ryno, where he hasn't shot before that is nature and outdoor based and he mentioned Rosemary Hill. We wanted something spontaneous, where it could just be the two of us having fun outdoors and being apart of nature.
We wore the same clothes from our engagement party, which was garden party themed, and was one with the outdoors and the people we love. We felt that being outdoors and in the open by ourselves at Rosemary Hill would show how much we love each other and nature in one picture.
Andrew designed the ring, he hand-picked my diamond, and incorporated all major aspects of my life. The diamond is in the centre representing him, which is in a solitaire protea setting representing my father and my favourite flower, with diamond chips going down both sides of the ring, which was backed from my mom's wedding band, bringing in the two people who made me who I am today into my ring.
Due to immigrating in January, Nikita had planned most of the wedding and booked most the people we need for when we return the following year. We asked Nikita's mom, Desiree to continue the planning on our behalf while we are overseas.
Our Wedding will be at Bell and Blossom, next year January. We have gone with subtle sage green and natural colours and have decided on very simplistic flower décor. The venue itself does not need to be dressed up too much. The dress is...white or blush or champagne, we will wait and see.
