I think that every girl dreams of that feeling of "I know he is the one" as soon as you meet the person you belong with. I never believed that this could be true, until I met my Ryan – it is a feeling that I can't describe, but in my heart I have never felt something more perfect than the love I share with him. I had gone out to the Umhlanga Village with my girl friends. We had just finished dinner when we walked into The George Pub and I spotted Ryan – my heart skipped a beat! I felt a strange connection to him. I turned to my friends and claimed that Ryan was going to be my husband someday; little did I know that that night was going to change my life forever.
We have been dating just over a year and a half now.
It is quite difficult to sit down and describe myself, but all I know is Ryan is the perfect person for me. I have never been around someone who always makes me smile and feel beautiful, no matter what I look like. He is the most hard-working and lovable person and has the most sincere heart that just draws people to him. He is the man I have always dreamt about and I still cannot believe that I get to marry him. I have truly never felt more loved by a person in my life.
Right from the very beginning, we knew that we wanted to get married so our engagement was not a surprise to those around us. We had been speaking about getting engaged from the previous December. I had always asked Ryan not to propose to me while I was in bed, or getting out of bed. I am a hopeless romantic, so I pictured a huge, romantic engagement for myself – needless to say, my darling Ryan did exactly the opposite of what I had asked… We had just got back home from his niece's birthday party and, while being tired, nagged about when we were going to get engaged. I got into my PJ's and jumped into bed, grumpy and ready for a good snooze, when Ryan came over all giggly and excited (which is not like him at all). The next moment, I see him skipping across the floor, going down on his knees with a ring in his hand. He asked me to marry him and I of course said YES! I actually could not have asked for a better way to get engaged – despite my dream. It was so unexpected and personal, a moment I will cherish forever.
I wanted an engagement shoot as Ryan and I are not that comfortable in front of a camera and thought it would be a lovely opportunity to meet the photographer and become relaxed in front of the lens. Duane was amazing, he made us feel so comfortable and captured the most gorgeous photos. We cannot wait to print them and put them around the house!

We did the engagement shoot at a farm in Ballito, but have no relation to this location We merely wanted to be outside by lush trees as we are both outdoorsy people. We wished for natural photos, taken in a spot were the both of us would feel peaceful. I asked Ryan to source the venue, and could not have done a better job myself if I tried.
We didn't opt for a theme as we really just wanted the shoot to be natural and spontaneous. The only thing I planned was the flower crown I wore.
Ryan got my ring designed through Bellagio Jewellers at Gateway, and they were amazing! Ryan knew exactly what I wanted and designed the ring together with the jeweller – it is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen! He did so well, I seriously can't stop staring at it.
We are doing our whole wedding ourselves – I feel that that is the best way for you to appreciate your wedding and for you to do everything according to your specific tastes. With Pinterest and wedding blogs available, we can easily create the wedding we envisioned. People are also so helpful when it comes to organising your big day, once you are engaged everything falls into place and planning isn't as stressful as it seems.
We are going very rustic for the wedding! We are tying the knot at an incredible cattle farm in the Midlands called Corrie Lynn – from the moment we saw the venue, we knew this is where we wanted to get married. There is so much that can be done to make it the wedding of our dreams!
“I’m so moved with how each wedding has its own heartbeat , and I get to be part of that beat”
