Just under four years.
We are both quite relaxed people and cherish quality time with our loved ones. Whether it's camping, hiking, or a stroll along the beach, we both find joy in the outdoors. Cooking together is another shared passion and we love creating memories in the kitchen. Lamb shanks is a favourite.
On a Friday afternoon, I made the weekly drive from Wellington to Sea Point where he lives. He suggested going on a late-afternoon hike, but little did I know that he had a surprise up his sleeve. When we finally reached the perfect picnic spot, he pulled out a picnic basket, hinting that we’re celebrating a recent achievement at work. I felt a flutter of suspicion but didn't want to get ahead of myself. We settled on a bench, he popped open a bottle of champagne, clinked glasses, and then he congratulated me. Just as my suspicion disappeared and I relaxed, he reached back into the basket for snacks. Suddenly, there was silence. I turned around, and there he was, down on one knee, with a ring in hand and a sparkle in his eye.
We've never had a photoshoot before, and we thought it would be great to meet our photographer beforehand, just to get to know each other and feel comfortable before the big day.
We love being outdoors, surrounded by nature, so it felt right to have our photos taken in a setting where we feel comfortable and at home. We asked Helene’s help with a location and she picked the perfect spot.
White and neutral with a pop of colour for fun.
I created a Pinterest board with all the rings I love and told him that when the time is right, he should take a look there.
We are not making use of a full wedding planner but opted for an on-the-day coordinator by Danelle Botes, the venue owner of Bergland Venue.
We imagine our wedding as a joyous celebration with loved ones, a once-in-a- lifetime experience. We're keen to play with some colour for the décor.
Shooting with predominantly natural light, Heléne understands how to capture that perfect, emotion-filled moment.
