It began in 1969 on the van Tonder family farm in Stellenbosch. The mother of the family abandoned her job as a teacher in order to pursue her passion for flowers. Sorrento is named after a small town on the Amalfi coast of Italy and means “a place to come home to”. Since its beginning Sorrento has grown into an internationally acclaimed boutique events agency which combines the vibrancy of South Africa and the innate style of Italy.
Sorrento recently provided the floral décor on our Winter Wonderland styled shoot held at Ibis House in Constantia. Winter makes for the perfect indoor wedding and what better way to decorate than the use of exquisite flowers. Although flowers are important all year round their splendour seems to get downplayed in the summertime. Winter bouquets leave room for experimentation and a large combination of colours and textures
At our styled shoot we kept to deep and rich hues such as cream, brown and navy. Our shoot table décor consisted of beautiful cream hydrangeas and blue viburnum. These were placed on the tables and we even delightfully served them alongside the three tier cake. The bride’s bouquet combined the same flowers as above with additional pine nut flowers and tons of greens.
A great winter wedding trend is keeping the base of your décor all white and adding splashes of colour through flowers, table settings and even catering! Warm and wintery textures such as velvet, copper and rough ceramics make for a great way to add a dimension to your classic all-white wedding.
