The year’s end always brings about a tremendous sense of accomplishment. With so many memorable moments, it deems a difficult task to identify the highlights. From crowning Bride of the Year 2014 at the glamorous The Bay Hotel, to ingenious styled shoots and competitions aplenty, this year we have truly reached new heights. Whilst it is onwards and upwards towards 2016, we take a minute to savour the SA Weddings successes that 2015 has seen.
Bride of the Year 2014
This years annual Bride of the Year competition was bigger and better than ever. The grand finale, themed Sparkle & Shine, took place at the renowned The Bay Hotel, Camps Bay on 18 April 2015. Three hundred guests of honour were treated to a sit-down soiree whilst our fabulous finalists took the stage. In the end, it was the gorgeous Mrs. July, Vicky Louw, who walked away with the prestigious title, a R20 000 cash prize and a holiday to Ambre, Mauritius worth R70 000 - courtesy of Air Mauritius and World Leisure Holidays! We also had the privilege of crowning the following title winners: Busisiwe Mothoa as 1st Princess, Joelene Botha as 2nd Princess, Melissa Steyn as Mrs Photogenic and Celeste Steyn as Mrs Personality. Entries for Bride of the Year 2015 are open and will stay open until 31 January 2016, whilst voting for all brides close on 29 February 2016. If you tied the knot this year, ensure you register today to experience the opportunity of a lifetime.
New appointments
With heavy hearts we bid farewell to sales manager, Margolite Williams, as well as editor, Leozette Roode. We thank both colleagues for the magnificent contribution they have made to the team, as well as the wedding industry, and wish them the very best with their ventures ahead. On a pleasant note we heartly welcome accountant, Mel Wallace, and sales manager, Natalie van der Walt, to the SA Weddings family. January will also see the joining of PR intern, Aqeelah Hassim, to the team.
Social Butterfly
We are thrilled to announce that this year we reached 20 000 followers on Facebook! SA Weddings also embraced Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, Wordpress and YouTube more than ever to bring you the latest wedding inspiration at your fingertips. It is heart-warming to see our interactive platforms grow so immensely and we adore using social media to connect with our beautiful brides and wonderful vendors on a daily basis. Thank you so much to all our fans and followers for sharing our love online!
Magnificent Monthly Themes
To enliven our website with exuberant editorials, we opt for the inclusion of invigorating themes. Latina Love Story embraced the passion and sensuality of the wedding scene, whilst our Eco Chic collaborations showcased sustainable ways to love both your big day and mother earth. However, our editorial triumph has to be the sensational styled shoots we delivered with top vendors in the South African industry. Incorporating international trends with terrific local talent proved to be a recipe for success.
Network meetings
It is of fundamental importance for SA Weddings to spend quality time with our valued service providers. This year we decided to visit the friendly faces from the City of Gold, and made our way up to Johannesburg to conduct a delightful network meeting at the serene forum|white light. Over 50 advertising and non-advertising vendors joined us for a day filled with inspiration and new business creation. Not only did we have the divine opportunity to reconnect and brainstorm brilliant ideas, but we also experienced the luxury of this iconic venue and what it has to offer our brides.
The final say
It is time for our team to put their feet up after an exciting wedding year. Kindly note that even though we close our doors on 15 December, the team is always on standby to assist you in your every need. We wish our vendors all the best with their upcoming weddings and events and hope all our brides tying the knot over the holidays, are blessed with the most beautiful day. SA Weddings will be back in the office on 4 January 2016, ready to indulge into another fantastic year with you all.
With love,
SA Weddings
