Louise Meyer is a household name in the bridal industry and she has provided many brides with STUNNING photographs a girl could ever dream of, we've asked Louise to share her great story behind the leading company below!
I have an immense passion for people and is extremely intrigued with energies. It all started with my career as a military instructor in the South African National Defense Force. I developed a strong instinctive connection with people.
Coming back to the original question, my style all depends on the energy of the couple. My mission is to capture the essence of the couple that I am working with. To do that I have to dig deep to connect with the people on a level where they will allow me to enter their personal space and capture those secret energy. Some couples prefer a more photojournalistic style and I love doing that as well. With time you learn to read people and respect the boundaries they need. I don’t just shoot with my camera I shoot with my soul. This is the one part of my style.
The other part is based on my deep rooted love affair with the bushveld. There is something so magical and mysterious about it and I absolutely love to incorporate the rawness of the bush into my wedding images. I am very blessed in that sense that the couples that want to get married in the bush also have a big passion for nature.
Trends are getting bigger and bolder every year! We have seen trends like photobooths, Garden Games, Fun Food Presentations, ect. The neutrals and pastels was a big hit for a long time so personally I have a feeling that the colours will start popping again! On the photography side there is a definite shift-taking place. The use of only natural light is going to make way for a more artistic and dramatic mood created with the combination of natural and artificial light methods. Very excited to see what is coming in 2018!
There are a few but one that I want to highlight is the importance to choose the right dress for your body type. Seek professional advise in choosing the right dress. I have unfortunately witnessed a very embarrassing moment because of wrong dress decisions.
It is extremely important that a wedding photographer is able to highlight the bride’s strong features and hide her weaker features. Brides are not professional models so it is the work of the photographer to position and guide the bride to look her best.
Being a mom of two and running my own business is challenging at times but is is very important to me to train at least four times a week. It is very important to have that “me time” and to clear my mind. I also love reading and spend time with my family.
One thing that I have learned over the years is that you have to outsource. Branding is very important. There is a lot of people out there who can help you to establish your business identity.
Make sure that you know your camera gear and are able to shoot in any light conditions.
Posture is extremely important! Unfortunately we are all guilty of “slouching” I always tell my brides – shoulders back, tummy in!
If at all possible, go for an engagement session with your photographer. In that session your photographer will prepare you for the big day!
