We teamed up with Sorrento Events in order to express how to elegantly use this theme through flowers and décor at your wedding. The outdoors and luscious landscape is renowned in South Africa and what better way to embrace our tradition than with the Protea flower. Our country’s national flower comes in hues of orange, pink and red and adds an eclectic touch to a bride’s bouquet.
Proteas go well with outdoor weddings. A truly African wedding is classic but enhanced with the use of colour and natural surroundings such as a vast landscape and a burnt orange sunset. If you are not able to have your wedding in a game lodge or safari venue it can be easily created by the use of Fynbos, Proteas, browns and green plants. The use of carved wooden under plates and centre pieces add a truly South African textural element to décor.
If you are interested in something more exotic; incorporate the use of prints such as Zebra stripes, cheetah prints and feathers into your table settings and crockery. Embracing this trend fully will mean that you can “decorate” with the help of our traditional African cuisine such as Bobotie, Boerewors and Bunny Chows as well as Koeksusters. Tableware and crockery allow for a mixture of wood, glass, ceramics and clay- an array of different textures allude to our South African style.
For under plates and ornamental décor gold is a great foundational colour that works well with brights and a variety of African textures. Gold compliments green and yellow and is a colour that Sorrento popularly ties in with their Elegant African themed events, these colours work will in an outdoor, natural environment.
