How did your love story begin?

This is a tough one to awnser, because our love story really is a result of a thousand different moments that combined. We met in the week of the 10th of February 2020. I needed smokes on my way to class, he'd stopped in Stellenbosch on a breakfast run. When I got to the counter of my local garage I realised I forgot my wallet, so I turned around and put the energy drink and sandwich I grabbed, back in the respective displays I got it from. There standing behind me is this beautiful man dressed in black with a helmet in hand, he looked at me and said; "I'll get that for you, if I can get your number."

We started talking that evening and conversation just kept flowing over calls and messages. Our first date was the 3rd of March. He'd taken me to the doctor for bronchitis, because I'm a little scared of doctors. We walked around the pharmacy and spar after where he bought me a bouquet of proteas and a tub of yogurt and I bought him some suger free chai latte satches. We went on a drive out toward Jonkershoek nature reserve, then he dropped me off at home.

On the 4th of March he came to fetch me again, we took a drive out to Fraanshoek and got lost on the way. We stopped on the wemmershoek pass to dance to Sally Williams Nougat by Jak du Priester, after which he asked me to be his official girlfriend.

22 March 2020... A day a lot changed for many people, lock down was declared. I decided to stay with Allan for the 2 week lock down, instead of going back to the Northern Cape or being isolated in my flat in Stellenbosch. Nobody knew 2 weeks would turn into 2 years, but it did. And we were together.

We took a drive to Chapman's peak on the 7th of April to get out of the house for a while, there at a rest stop, Sally Williams Nougat played again and we danced again. Amid the dancing and laughing Allan drew me closer and told me he loves me.

Since then we've battled covid together three times, lost family members, supported each other through illnesses and injuries. We've seen promotions, new ventures, progress toward a degree. Countless joys and sorrows. Together we survived a pandemic, pandemonium and we're working hard to survive a depression and a revolution. We've done so holding on to one another in love and support, with appreciation and kindness. And that is the foundation of our relationship.
