Getting ready in the Highberry cottage at our venue, surrounded by my Bridal party and nature is what kicked off our wedding day (Oh and a little champange of course). My nerves started fluttering when we drive down to the venue (fashionably late of course) and we proceeded to the up-stairs chapel where I knew my soon-to-be husband and all our loved ones were waiting just for me. Oh, just a heads up, on our way, up the stairs to the chapel, my train got caught and I spent what felt like 20 min (1,5 min) trying to free myself while not falling backward down the stairs, my bridesmaids and MOH had already done their walk down the isle. Apparently while the music played on my poor Hubby was sweating bullets thinking that I might have pulled a "run away bride" on him. In hindsight we now laugh about it. The atmosphere was joyous and high energy. Our first dance was one for the books. My hubby asked his friend to give him a few lessons (only to our chosen dance song) so he can surprise me with a proper dance. I loved him even more at that moment. We ate enough (food was amazing) we drank too much (gluttony was on everyone's agenda) and we danced the night away. We had a wedding with 50 guests and I must say, the compliments we received because of just how entirely AWESOME it was has been too many to count. Small weddings are more fun!
We have yet to go on honeymoon. We are hoping to save throughout this year so that we can visit friends of ours who live in Spain. #2024 still has many things in store.
My hair, make-up and wedding gown was a combination of "boho" elegance. Full lace gown minimal crystals and pearls with a low cut back (since your guests look at your back for almost an hour in the ceremony) and a medium length train. I wore black shoes block heel shoes (easier to stand and walk in) with pearl earing's and a ghost pearl necklace (borrowed from my mother-in-law. My hair was subtle curls with fresh flowers entwined in pieces taken back. My make-up was noticeable, but done sparingly.

I had the majority of my appointments at Beauteous Beauty Salon in Kimberley. Naduchelle Hayward is an amazing beautician. I did my eyebrows, tanning, facial and lash extentions done here. My nails and toes were done by Charlene Smith. My home-town hair dresser Landi Zandberg trimmed the ends and coloured the wisdom-lights the week before. everyone did an amazing job!
We are both like the "less is more" look. Green and black were the colours chosen for our big day. The beautiful ghost chairs and rectangular raw wooden tables were enhanced with greenery, glass, and cement/ stone decor, we had long white candles burning which enriched the romance aspect of our wedding and provided that intimate lighting we were after. The flowers in the bouquets were greenary, Lillies and white roses.

My groom was kitted out from Woolworths. He looked simply dashing. the grooms men ties and accessories were bought at Edgars. Swagger was an understatement - the boys looked old-school cool!
I have mentioned that we were on a strict budget. Well, my bridesmaids and my MOH were dressed by Shein. I was pleasantly surprised by the dresses we ordered and how well they fit and that they did not look "cheap". MOH wore a black flowing high-low dress with lace detail. The two bridesmaids wore long fitted green dresses (different shades and styles). Don't be afraid to order brides maids dresses on Shein. They looked and felt amazing!
We were blessed to have Lucille Scheepers Photography capture our special wedding moments. She is on Instagram and Facebook. I cannot describe how in aw I am with the photos I have received. She is talented beyond words. Lucille is based in Somerset-West. She does all sorts of shoots, family, maternity, engagement but I truly commend her on the Wedding photography talent. Thank-you Lucille, the memories captured on our wedding day will last a life time!
I would not have been able to pull off a destination wedding if it weren't for Lisl and her team of experts at Hygge Wedding Planning. She was my hero. She is truly affordable, we were on a small and strict budget and she pulled off our dream wedding in an instant. She is located in Stellenbosch and organizes weddings and events in the surrounding areas.
We made the best decision when we chose Ebony & Ivory Event management and catering to prepare our spectacular harvest table, welcome drinks, main course and trio of deserts. They are phenominal, professional and well priced! I highly recommend them.
Our wedding cake was baked by Daniella Richards (a very good friend of mine) she is a home baker and makes the most amazingly beautiful cakes and treats in her spare time. We literally finished off her cake the day after the wedding, not a crumb was left. She is based in Somerset-West.
We had the most amazing DJ - Euphorix based in Stellenbosch. Lisl from Hygge, our wedding planner arranged for him. He sent through his music sheet and he really tuned into what our guests and crowd wanted.
