My wedding day started with some very special memories of my parents, it brought a tear to my eye knowing that they would not be their to share that special day with me.
As I was getting ready to walk down the aisle, the bag piper (Piper Mike) started to play. My husband was unaware as this was a surprise for him. As the piper played, he had tears in his eyes as he watched me walk towards him.
We said our vows twice, and the groomsmen on the piper music entertained our guests with a dance while we sorted out the little oopsie. Time for the rings, and our beautiful puppies bring them down the aisle.
Tina Turner's The Best starts and we walk onto the dance floor to do our first dance, and then I stepped on my dress. We cut the music and do it all over again. I pick up my big dress and try it again... Cut the music, let's do it a third time... Pin the dress and do it again... Cut the music... Last resort, tracksuit pants and a t-shirt and we finished our first dance perfectly.
We went on what we call a family-moon, we had family travelling from across the world to share our special day after postponing due to Covid restrictions. We decided to spend the time with them on trip to Addo Elephant Park.
Tradition with a twist...
I wanted a traditional wedding but knew I wanted to do some things differently. Wearing a long black dress from Belle Donne. As the dress was already a statement piece I knew I wanted my hair simple yet elegant which was done by a friend and my stylist for the last 11 years Bronwyn from S&B Hair in Claremont. I wanted a simple make up look to complement my dramatic dress. Sam form Sam Ellenberger Makeup Artistry created the perfect look.
We got married at Rondekuil in Durbanville, it is rustic venue with beautiful views.
Rondekuil offers beautiful accommodation, we had the family and wedding party spend the weekend on the farm.
Knowing that we will be having an intense couple of weeks end of March, my husband and I did a couples massage at Ohana Spa. I then did eyebrow threading at Sorbet.
The bridesmaids, Mother of the Groom and I all had our nails done together the Thursday evening at Sorbet
Our Ceremony was outside under a beautiful tent from Cape Tents, with a hexagon arch from Via La Monte. The Arch was decorated with a beautiful bouquet from New Vintage Events. The flowers used was King Proteas and Roses. The florist added beautiful black flowers as an added bonus. The guests were seated on haybales from Rondekuil with black covers.
The cocktail hour was held on the deck, games, bubbles, jumping castle and a photobooth was setup to add an extra bit of fun.
The reception venue at Rondekuil has silver chairs and beautiful mirrors which sits below the beautiful fairy lights and Chandeliers. The room was lit by the fairy lights and candles we made. The tables were decorated with black runners, mopane root and proteas. The kdis had puzzles or colouring books for when the adults were just too "BORING". We created a memory tree from vines which was decorated with glass baubles, which we added fairy lights, flowers and photos of our loved ones that could not be with us to. A sparkler exit was the perfect ending to a wonderful evening with family and friends.

The Groom (Luke) was wearing a suit from Bogart Man we found after lockdown in Canal Walk. He was wearing a grey and white checkered blazer with a white waistcoat and grey pants. He was wearing a grey wide brim hat from Cotton On.
The Groomsmen was wearing grey suits hired from Mr Suit Hire. They were wearing grey waistcoats with white long sleeve shirts rolled to three-quarter length, with newspaper boy caps to complete the peaky blinder look my husband wanted.
My bridesmaids wore sage green infinity dresses from Infinity Dress Boutique Cape Town. We wanted something that would complement both of them and they could reuse after the wedding.
Troy Goldie did an amazing job as our officiant and definitely gave us a ceremony to remember.
Our special moments were captured by Danielle Olivier Photography and the guests had a brilliant time with the photobooth from Booth Moments.
