The best part of our day was having it all roll out with family and friends present.
We moved our wedding day out by a year due to the arrival of our son and boy was it just extra special to celebrate with him there. It was honestly a perfect Spring day in Springs, the sun was dancing in the sky, the wind was blowing with ease and it was a good combination of what the day represented, a love so easy a love so bright.
Everything came together smoothly, from the cake to the decor, to the coordination and the guests. It was important for us that everything ran on time, because, in South Africa, African time is an actual thing. I was pleasantly surprised when all went as planned. My wish as the bride was to have a wedding where all of our family were guests. It may sound weird, but you see, in my family, such occasions meant the whole family ended up being the coordinators, chefs and drivers and and and. All my life, having a wedding where everyone can be a guest, dress in their best and be present in the joy of the day is all I truly wanted. And that's what we got. The joy in my little cousins' faces as they took to the photo booth, the laughing from the toddlers in the white jumping castle on the lawn, my aunts, uncles and in-laws dancing to Hugh Masekela on the dance floor and our MC singing songs at every turn, will be forever embedded in our minds and hearts. It was a beautiful, wholesome day. And my husband, well I zoomed into him at every chance I got. What a handsome gent. Needless to say every time, I think about that day, I can pick up all the day's scents, hear all of its laughter and feel the warmth from our vows. It was a blessed day indeed.
Not yet. But we are hoping we can go sometime this year.
I need to start with the dress because I had the biggest drama with finding a dress. Our wedding was initially to take place in 2022 but we fell pregnant and moved it out by a year. I had found a dress when we found out we had a baby coming, so I put the dress on hold with The One Bridal only to contact them 7 months later to find they had disappeared with my money and the dress. I soon found out that this is a syndicate and The One Bridal had scammed several brides and it's something they've done before under the name EuroBride.
Fast forward a month later, I started my search again for a dress and came across Diamond Love Bridal who were so gracious and had me try on dresses similar to the one I lost. Luckily, I could find something within my budget that I liked as I wanted to hire and not purchase. I am so glad that things turned out the way they did and found a dress I fell in love with. The Diamond Love team were also so accommodative and expertly made sure that the dress was altered to my preference and requests.
I had my hair done by Karabo from King Cutter. He has been my hair stylist for about four years and he knows the coils of my hair very well so having him style my hair for my wedding was a no-brainer. Also, he is a master hair cutter and colourist. He absolutely knows what he is doing and is very detailed and meticulous in his craft.
My make-up was done by Khethiwe from DeograciousWorks. Who has also done my make-up and our bridal party make-up before? She is outstanding and creates a soft glam face she is probably my best MUA when it comes to that execution.
Our groom and groomsmen had the most exquisite suits made by Port of LNG owned by Zothile and Dineo Langa. And because they are family, they knew just what the groom's style and personality would be complemented by. They did a fantastic job of creating a relaxed but formal look for the groom and his groomsmen.
The venue, Riverside Country Estate, captured our vision for the decor and styling so perfectly. We honestly wanted a set up that would be easy and fun to do yet still beautiful and elegant in execution.

We stayed the night and four of our guests stayed the night at the venue. They do have rooms to book on request.
