We have all been to a wedding and at some point, we all got a little bit bored… The main aim for us was for everyone to just relax, unwind and have some fun.
Our wedding theme was minimalistic and modern in black and white.
These were a few highlights from our big day that we loved and will never forget:
The wedding venue we ended up choosing was a hidden gem near Lydenburg called @Boshoek Weddings. The chapel had a beautiful view overlooking the valley and the reception hall was in a forest of Eucalyptus trees.
While we were still planning our wedding we went to a quiz night one evening and that night we decided this is exactly what we should do as entertainment for our guests. Rikus from Lloud Llama events really did a fantastic job as the DJ and the Quiz Master that evening our guests really enjoyed it.
We didn’t have your typical gin bar during the canapes, but we had a build-your-own ice cream bar.
Because most of our guests were already married we wanted to do something a bit different for our bouquet and garter toss.
with the garter toss, we got all the men to do a blindfolded dance off and the winner got the garter.
For the bouquet toss, I got all the ladies on the dance floor and to whoever caught the bouquet I wished them many more happy years of marriage.
My husband and I are both animal lovers and we wanted to include our pets in some way on our wedding day. As our thank-you gifts, we made a little gift bag with different types of treats that our guests could take home for their pets at home.
Yes, we did a road trip through the Western-Cape
Refaire I'Art from Lydenburg helped my bridesmaids and me with our hair and make-up. I wanted my makeup to be a bit darker than your typical bridal makeup. My dress had a lot of detail and I, therefore, decided to wear my hair up with only earrings and a bracelet as jewellery. I wanted to pull the colour theme of the wedding through into our looks, this is why I decided to wear black heels with my white wedding dress and my bridesmaids wore only black.
We got married at @Boshoek Weddings near Lydenburg, Elsabe and Wynand are the lovely owners of the venue, they helped us every step of the way and really made our wedding run super smoothly.
We had a small weekend wedding and most of our guests stayed at the venue. On Friday night we had a braai with family and friends and Saturday was the big day. Sunday most of our guests stopped at Dullstroom on their way home and we all enjoyed an early morning breakfast to end off a good weekend.
Elsabe from @Boshoek also has a flower and decor business called Ballet De Fleurs. She created a beautiful minimalistic black-and-white wedding for us.
On the tables, we had a few white flowers with black cutlery and table runners on a large wooden table.
The groomsmen rented their tuxes from Black Tie.
My bridesmaids all wore black dresses that they picked out from The Maiden and they all fitted perfectly.
