It’s always been a curious thing to me how weddings seem to bring out the best in people and it’s like a little taste of heaven on earth. Leading up to, and on, our special day, our friends and family pulled together to make it all happen.
The bridal shower was organised a week before it happened and only 2 weeks before the wedding. Everything seemed to happen at the last minute and yet it was perfectly on time.
At one point someone asked what stage of wedding planning I was in and I wondered if "panic and prayer" is a stage!
It all happened perfectly in the end, the way it was supposed to. The preparation time was very peaceful and the weather gradually warmed up during the day, with no drizzle as was forecast. We had loadshedding just before the prep time and then it was cancelled for the rest of the day which meant we could live stream our reception to Facebook and family watched from Durban and Australia throughout the day, for the wedding, the speeches and the cake cutting.
Our photographer flew in from George to be with us and made the day extra special with her personal touch.
We had a few unexpected occurrences during the day such as the transport for the bride arriving late, an unexpected guest, and one of the speech makers had no idea they were meant to give a speech! It all worked out in the end and was a most wonderful day. Our guests said there was such a relaxed, easy atmosphere that made it really special and memorable.
