Our entire wedding was filled with awesome moments but my most memorable moment: when the door of the chapel opened, walking down the aisle, and there he was standing, tears in his eyes, becoming my husband after 20 years of being in a relationship. To describe in just a few words what i felt seeing my best friend, my soulmate, I felt the warmth, peace, love, comfort, happiness and being loved.
Secondly when my husband had his speech after the rings.... Emotional, all our guests were in tears.
Highlights of our wedding: seeing our friends and family happy, talking, eating, laughing, dancing, just spending the day with us, knowing they love and support us.

If you have ever heard of a bride who did not have her dream wedding dress a week before her wedding - it was me. I really struggled to find the perfect type of dress that will fit my body type. I went to a few places for fittings but it's like everyone say: "you will know and feel when it's the right dress". The Saturday before the wedding there was one more place to go - Grandiflora Bridal Boutique...As I walked in, there it was on a mannequin. Although I wanted some changes on the top piece I was totally in love with this dress. I really cut it short and Grandiflora was more than willing to accommodate me, they had 4 days to do alterations. Final fitting and collection was the Thursday - the day before the wedding...When I arrived the morning for the fitting, there it was hanging, a soft, white princess style dress. Perfect !!! It fitted like a glove and I was in love with my wedding dress.
I rounded of my dress with silver shoes for the church and "pienk vellies" for the reception.

Leopard lodge was the second venue that we viewed. It was far from our home town 230kms but we just loved this place.
The lodge has a peaceful atmosphere, it sits high up on the Magaliesberg Mountain range and has magnificent views of the Hartbeespoort Dam and Magaliesberg Mountains

The protea flower represents change and hope. My proteas came all the way from a protea farm just outside of George. My aunt made the flower bouquets with proteas, greenery and white Gypsy flowers.
Reception area was filled with fairy lights creating a romantic atmosphere - Theo - Softlight Decor
Table Decor - hired from grandiflora market.
We used a square cubicle, added a protea bouquet on top for some height, and on the sides we added vases with water and floating candles.
I wanted something else for table numbers and decided to name each table with a lasercutting word like "Liefde / Hoop / Geloof / Vreugde / Vriende / Vrede.
As a thank you gift we gave each guest a keyring and we also supplied them with a Hangover kit in a bottle that contained bioplus, bar-one, rennie, grandpa and a small roll super C.
Ceremony
Grey suit with black shirt, black shoes with pink ties. Each one with there own personalized underpants. In memory of our son who loved spiderman, we made personalized spiderman socks and cufflinks.
Husband was also wearing a memory pendant in memory of his mother.
Reception
Brown short pants, white shirt, brown suspenders and brown vellies
My daughter was one of the bridesmaids and the other two was my sister in law and my best friend. We googled alot to get some ideas on the perfect dress that will suit everyone. We decided on greyish bling bling dresses with pink overlays. Short in front and long at the back. They looked so beautiful.

Leon Roper. Let me tell you a story about this wonderful man. We've known each other since I was 14 and 24years later he married us. He was the minister at our church since i was a little girl, but became a dear family friend. You can phone him in the middle of the night, always available. he has been in this family for marriages, funerals, baptisms, you name it.... always there when you need him.

Did not have a planner, but had my mom, aunt and friends that helped with alot of ideas.
The chapel with its breath-taking view was situated in the bush walking distance from the main lodge and wedding reception area therefore there was no need for transport.
Leopard Lodge - Everyone was talking about the delicious food that was prepared by Leopard Lodge, from the canapes to the main course and the dessert was wonderful and delicious. No complaints from our guests.
Cakes - Aristo Cakes - I did not want a big cake, as I knew people are going to enjoy themselves with the canapes, food and desert instead of a big cake we made one square cake for the people who had space left for cake and we made small square cakes for the guests to enjoy the following day.

I just wanted something different and with a lot of time and research I decided on a digital animation video. I sat for days to create the perfect save the date. I just love the Ellie and Carl characters, as their story somehow feels like a reflection of our story so I used them in the beginning when they were standing in the church getting married. Background music was "going to the chapel and we're gonna get married.... friends and family did not know we were planning on getting married, they were always asking year after year for 20 years "when is the big day" and finally they received the video - Dagboek die datum... everyone was surprised that the big day is coming
