Our wedding and story is so special and one I will never forget. It was the most amazing wedding and what made it even more special was how everyone just jumped in to make this amazing day become a reality!
Two weeks before the wedding our original venue gave us a call and we had to cut 50 guests from our guest list due to Covid regulations not easing up. This is something no bride and groom want to do, but we had no choice. In that same week my father had to unexpectedly see a specialist because they suspected that he had a tumor in his pancreas and had to do a biopsy to confirm, (luckily the biopsy results came back and it was a cyst). To top it all off after coming back from the specialist a day later my mother was tested positive for Covid.
With a week and a half to go we had to make a call whether we were going to postpone the wedding or carry on with just our families. My mom was out of isolation 2 days before the wedding but she was going to do all the catering for the wedding.
Needless to say Alan and I decided we would get married with only the family and we will have another wedding at a later stage. The most important thin to us was to get married and that our families are healthy.
I had to cancel all my service providers so that we could use them at the bigger wedding, we canceled our photographer, videographer, hair dresser, make-up artist, venue the works. And I had to plan a whole new small wedding within a week (which is not really how I pictured the week of the wedding going down).
The wedding ended up to be spectacular, it was small, intimate and perfect. It was even more than I could have asked for and we had the most amazing time together with our families.
The most memorable moment was walking up to my future husband with my dad by my side knowing that that day I was getting married to my best friend, the man of my dreams and that it was the beginning of the rest of our lives together.
I will never forget our wedding day, it was the most amazing day of my life and I could not and still cant stop smiling when I think about our beautiful wedding day and I would not change anything about it.
We went on the most amazing honeymoon anyone can ask for! We went to Gold Zanzibar on Kendwa beach in Zanzibar. It was the most relaxing time, it was so peaceful, the water was so clear and we could go snorkeling right off the shore of the resort. The people are amazing, the staff are so friendly and so are all the locals. I will go back any day with a smile!
I had the most beautiful wedding dress, I felt so classy and I felt like royalty. It was a dress from Timeless Bridal Couture in Lynnwood Pretoria. I had the cutest shoes, that looked a little like ballet slippers, I bought them from Olivelli. I wanted my hair to look as Classy as I felt in my dress so I went for an up-style but not something too formal, I had my hair done at Septembré in Tzaneen and used some hair accessories from Lovisa. I cancelled my make-up appointment and did my make-up myself going with a lighter more natural make-up look. I didn't wear any additional jewelry except my moms pearl earrings.
I was so happy with how everything came out and I wouldn't change a thing.

We got married at a local venue called Waterbessiebos. It is in the woods and a amazing venue for any kind of wedding. Our guests stayed over in Haenertsburg and in Tzaneen with family.
The décor was all natural, it was in a small forest so it didn't need much to look magical. The flowers were bought by a local florist and the greenery was all taken out of the Waterbessiebos garden and arranged by a local caterer (and close famiy friend) Nelia as well as the owner of the venue.
Alan (the groom) wore a 3 piece suit from Euro Suit and a bow tie, it was a beautiful midnight blue with brown formal shoes. We didn't have any groomsmen at the wedding because of the nature of the wedding and it having to be only family.
We didn't have any bridesmaids also because of having to make our wedding smaller.
We had the most amazing photographer from Sparrow Photography. Her name is Nonnie Potgieter and she is the best. She captures every little details, all the décor, all the laughs, smiles and emotions in between. She made sure that we were happy and that we had taken all the pictures we wanted and all the extras. I would highly recommend using Nonnie for your wedding. We had no videographers at our wedding.
I planned everything myself with the help of my sister and a family friend that recently started her own catering business as well as the owner of Waterbessiebos.
.
The initial planning was that my mom was going to do all the food and the Wedding cake. But, after having Covid my mom was very tired and we had to make another plan, so our family friend Nelia did all the Canapés and the wedding cake.
We got all the stationary printed by a local printer called S&J Labels, they were great and their service is great, their quality of printing and stickers are top quality and they are very well priced.
We had taken many dance lessons leading up to the wedding from a dance teacher in Tzaneen, her name is Brylene and she is great, she choreographed our whole dance and she was so lenient with our dance lessons to make sure we had enough practice. Our arranged DJ was DJ Jonty, he is great and we will definitely use him at our big celebration with all our other friends, but for the smaller family wedding we made our own playlist and used speakers that my family in law have.
