There were a couple of highlights that really moved me. Let's start with when my dad saw me, I've never seen him like that, with those tears in his eyes. It's an image in my mind that I will not forget. Secondly when we prayed together before the service, while he was blindfolded ❤
Thirdly when I had the privilege of singing for him, it was the first time ever that I've sung in front of people and I did it for him and God. Then when we did our first dance, I was captivated by him all over again ❤ I could be in his arms and be safe with him where I belong. I also loved when we walked into the venue, it was everything we wanted and more. But what I also really loved was when I put on my dress. I will share the story with you, but this dress was such a blessing and I truly felt so beautiful on my wedding day.
Yes we did!
We went on a small break to Sun City. And in perfect timing because a week later it was closed due to lockdown. Originally we wanted to go to Cascades Hotel and then the day before our wedding Sun City phoned us and said that they are complimentary upgrading us to the Palace, we praise the Lord for what He did and are so grateful to Him for everything. When we got here I realized that I left my Vanity bag at home with all my toiletries in so we stopped at the pharmacy at Sun City and I got a few essentials. My toothbrush was a baby one with a little bear on. ❤ super cute.
So I'm a full glam kinda lady. Originally I went to China mall and bought a dress, it was on special, and all I wanted to do was change the waist band. It was stunning, mermaid with lace all over. And a bling belt with some bling on top as well. Then I was going to have my second dress made, just a silk white dress that flows nicely, but the dresses didn't exactly work out as we planned, so we need to get me a new dress, 2nd dress and all my bridesmaids new dresses on the Monday of the week of our wedding (wedding was Fri). But I just want to say that God turned that for our good, because each and every dress got immensely upgraded and I ended up with a full glam bling mermaid dress that suited me so much better. The bridesmaids looked beautiful in their different shades of purple and my second dress I borrowed from a friend who said I can alter It however I want, so I added a slit, changed the size and added stones on the top to glam it up. It was such a blessing.
The crown I had I borrowed from a friend, the bracelets I had gotten from Lovisa. Hair we changed on the day, but it looked so good !!! And it suited the dress well, we did a half up half down look with full curls and extensions. The Frontrow extensions I got from a lady on a huge special. And when she sent it she also wrote a letter for me, I've never met this lady but it worked out So well and it was my exact color.
My makeup was done by the BEST in the business, Alecia Joubert (Ubella Pro Makeup Artistry) on the trial we did purple for the engagement shoot which was on the same day as my trial, but we eneded up changing it to a bling silver which matched the dress so well. Shoes I got from China Mall (near Oriental Plaza)
Lingerie I got from Woolies ! They have such nice underwear ❤
We got married at Makiti Wedding and Function Venue - Ballroom Venue
They were very accommodating especially during covid. They did all of our decor and food, as well as the wedding planning. They have an online wedding planner where you can update the guests, Table seating, food, send an online personalised invite link and they provide their professional opinion on all the nitty gritty.
The Makiti Lodge was fully booked, however the guests stayed at a couple of different places all in the area. Makiti gave us a reference list for alternative accommodation as well as suppliers.
So I went for my hair coloring, did a shadow root which just darkened the root a little to make the blonde and my face pop. The hair chair by Chloe did this. My nails were done by Ricara from Featherbrooke Beauty 256, she always does a stunning job with nails. For my teeth, I went to the local dentist and just had a teeth cleaning done. Then for my face, I went to Revive Lazer and Beauty, she did such a great job on my face, i also received some great skin treatments for the week from her, where I would just relax and put on one of the facials. Another facial that I used was Freeman from Dischem, the cucumber and Himalayan Salt one, it also did wonders on my skin and my skin is currently looking the best that it has in a while. Regarding health wise, I just ate healthy and made sure I was happy, trying to decrease the stress as much as possible. God really blessed me by sending me to the right people for all of my needs, everything was more than I expected and the girls outdid themselves. Praise the Lord
For the Decor, we had purple overlays, a silver damask table cloth on guest tables, resin Tiffany chairs and a raised mirror where the overlay was under with fairy Lights. On top of the mirror we put 3 flat crystal lampshades. And then hanging from the beams in the venue over each table we had a gold hoop hanging with ribbon, eucalyptus, bling, flowers at the top and fairy lights on it as well, so it was like a ring hanging from the roof over each guest table. For the main table we had 3 white small round tables put together with King and Queen chairs. On the middle round table we had a purple flower arrangement and on the outer 2 we had the same as the guest tables, just without the hanging rings. Around the venue we had 10 x purple LED lights set up and one big lit up LOVE sign in front of the main Table. So there was a lot going on but it worked out better than what i expected. Makiti did all of our decor, the only thing we did was spray hoopla hoops gold. Otherwise they did everything and supplied everything. It truly is a one stop shop.
The groomsmen all wore black suits with funky purple socks. The groom wore a black suit, charcoal hat, and a charcoal waistcoat with silver detailing in, as well as purple socks of course. They just used what they had in their cupboards. The groom borrowed the waistcoat.
Oh and they all had purple ties.
The bridesmaids all worse purple dresses, different shades. Everything was purchased from Dream Bride in Krugersdorp, they were so accommodating and friendly and they really went our of their way to help us. I have posted some pics of the girls.
My pastor from His Healing Hands church ❤ Pastor Jaco Mostert
Our photographer was Jamie Jonk, from Jamie and Co. He is very dear to us and does a stunning job. The video videographer was Travis. He was very accommodating and we loved working with him. Still waiting for all our photos and videos.
Makiti provided us with a coordinator on the day, her name is Serena and she did an excellent job.
Makiti made the food, and their cake lady made the cake, Catherine from the Dancing Chef. She did an awesome job, for the rest of the cake we ordered Krispy Kreme.
We are both dancers, so we just had our own private wedding lessons together at our studio, Rhythm in Us, with Louis de Nobrega.
Makiti provided an excellent dj for us as well.
