The fact that our wedding took place was a definite highlight! On the 27th (after we had safely left South Africa), our President cancelled all weddings!
We both believe that our marriage was blessed through many challenges and "almosts" and our favourite moment is reading our personal vows under the most beautiful rock fig tree!
We brag about our sustainable wedding that was both eco-friendly and small business-conscious. We also had very stringent Covid protocols.
Even though our cake broke in two and my one bridesmaid couldn't make it to the wedding because she had Covid, everything was absolutely perfect!

I wanted to enjoy the evening and opted for a versatile dress. First of all, it was a shiny, feathered lace Milla Nova gown with lining I wore to the ceremony. For reception I took out the lining to show some leg! When it got cold, I wore a leather jacket with my sparkly gown!
My accessories were from Lovisa, my shoes were nude from Steve Madden and my hair loose and wild! I absolutely loved my makeup and hair that was done by the incredible Alecia from Ubella!
Robert designed my stunning Halo ring, which was then made by Poggenpoel Jewellery. And my garter was hand crafted by Kathleen Barry.
I actually bought my veil on Takealot.com and re-gifted it after the wedding.
We were thrilled that we could say our "I dos" at Monate Game Lodge and that all of our guests could stay at the venue and be transported to their rooms - especially in light of curfew.

I did not do special training leading up to the wedding, but normally follow the Sweat program by Kayla Itsines. Teeth whitening was done by Dr Perumal at Medicross Benoni and I had my Spraytan done by Gaynor from Just Another Salon in Bedfordview. Nails were done by Tammy Taylor in Bedfordview.
We wanted very minimalistic, indigenous and Wintery flowers, which was done by Ashleigh from The Love Knot. She also did our lighting.
My decor was all done by myself and my mother and we used Dickybird Designs for our sand ceremony box and Woodtechie for our Wedding Mail. Table Seatings, Menus etc were all electronic and available online via QR codes we had at the wedding. Our sanitisers for each guest were made by Hartslief Designs
Suits were black with white shirts and were from Eurosuit. I made my husband cufflinks with my handwriting on it from Silvery.
Because one of my bridesmaids had Covid, only one other could attend my wedding. Lizanne wore a long, black, sparkly dress with long sleeves and a sweetheart neckline. Lizanne also got ready in a gown made by Allthingsbridal.
Our Marriage Officer was Pastor Ruan du Plessis from Siloam Word of Truth Brakpan.

Our wedding coordinator was Sarah from Monate Game Lodge. She was brilliant!
Monate Game Lodge had Cruisers transport our guests from their rooms to the ceremony / reception and back. They also transported myself and Robert throughout the day. The were absolutely amazing, friendly, trustworthy and professional.
Monate Game Lodge did a spitbraai for us and our cake was made by La Moraine cakes. Our toppers were from Minime and you and the cake was carrot (Rob's favourite) and chocolate (my favourite). We also had a donut stand which we bought from Facebook Marketplace!
We proudly had no stationery (:
I did everything myself using Canva and TheKnot.com. Guests scanned our QR code for all information from menues to seating!
We had glass savers for Covid which were made by Petal Perfect.
A word of mention is also due for our hand sanitisers which were made personal for our guests. This was done by La Luna. The QR Codes made for our website were done beautifully by Hartslief Designs.
We wanted things natural and took no dance lessons. Our first dance was to You name the babies and I'll name the dogs.
Perfect Tones did our sound and we had no live band. My playlist for the ceremony and canapes was one I created myself on Deezer.
