Our wedding day was absolutely perfect!! Lockdown Level 5 started 17 days before our initial wedding last year. After postponing 3 times and setting 4 different wedding dates, we finally made it down the aisle. Everything about our day was perfect, the weather, the people and my husband.
Although some family and friends couldn't make our special day (thanks covid), we were still able to celebrate by streaming our ceremony live.
All in all, it was the most magical day and was well worth the wait.
My husband and I went to the Drakensburg for our honeymoon. It was absolutely amazing!!
I went with a very natural look for my wedding day. My beautiful maid of honor and friend of 20 years did my hair and makeup. Something we have been planning since we were 12. My wedding dress was custom made by Lizette Duncan and was everything I had ever dreamed of! It fit like a glove and was so comfortable. My jewelery was minimal and sentimental. I wore a bracelet from my mom and my 21st rings from my parents and my late grandfather who was looking forward to seeing my get married. I also had a bracelet that was made by the little boy I fostered for 5 years.

Jaco and I got married at Oakfield Farm. When we visited the venue in 2019, we had an appointment for another venue afterwards and when Jaco and I walked out, he turned to me and said "Do we really have to view the other venue?"
We knew at that moment that we had found our wedding venue.
We had some guests stay over after our wedding and then joined us for breakfast the following morning.
This acclaimed, multi award winning venue is where romance, beauty, old fashioned hospitality and excellence come together a mere 30 minutes from Sandton and Centurion.
I stuck to strict beauty regime before the wedding and used Dermalogica products. I particularly loved their daily microfoliant (used morning and night) and their Biolumin-c serum.
I am a dancer, and kept up with my dance classes before the wedding.
We went with a very natural and pastel look for our wedding. We used a lot of pampas grass and other grasses with a mix of natural colored fresh flowers.
My bouquet and my husband's buttonhole was extra special as it contained orchids from a plant that my husband had given to me as a birthday gift 5 years ago. My plant bloomed right before the wedding and we were able to use it.
Our decor was done by Petra Griesel from Beauty in Abundance and looked incredible.
I also did some of the decor myself, handwriting the guest seating chart.
Our napkins and table runners were made by a very special family friend, Jill Needham.

The groom wore a blue suit with brown shoes. He found his suit at Edgars. The groomsmen wore navy blue pants with a white shirt, from Edgars and Woolworths. The groom and groomsmen wore matching blue ties that matched the bridesmaids dresses.
My bridesmaids all wore light dusty blue dresses. They all chose their own designs that suited their personalities. The dresses were flowy and moved beautifully when they walked. All bridesmaids dresses were custom made by Julene Rokebrand at Fleur by Julene
We had an incredible marriage officer, Nick Maritz from The Barn Christian Fellowship. He conducted a beautiful ceremony that had many guests commenting afterwards.
The incredible Rolene van der Merwe and her daughter, Yolande captured our special day. They did such an incredible job capturing the feelings and emotions behind each photo. They made us feel so comfortable and relaxed behind the camera.
We loved Rolene's light and airy photograph, which suited our decor so well.
We did not have a planner for our wedding. I did all the planning myself, with a lot of help from my incredible mom, all my bridesmaids and other friends and family.
My husband and I did not make use of any wedding transport.
All our food was prepared by the team at Oakfield Farm. They prepared the most incredible food, that guests are still talking about.
My husband and I decided not to have a big cake, but rather chose to make cake pops. We made them ourselves with the help of some amazing friends and family. We went with four different flavours for the day. Chocolate and Brandy, chocolate and salted caramel, vanilla and cappuccino and vanilla and Amarula. The day before the wedding, I decided to make a small mini cake for us to cut, with the saying "the one where we got married".

I did quite a lot of the decor myself, I designed the menus and guest names and hand wrote the guest seating chart.
Our table numbers were made by Kim Hobson at First Prize. She also made a lot of our personalized gifts that were given to the bridesmaids and groomsmen as well as the guest.
Our reception was so much fun. We walked in and opened up with our first dance, which was choreographed by my amazing dance teachers, Blair Hickinbotham and Sheridan Blaauw from Ministry of Dance. My first dance with my husband was magical and everything I had ever imagined. We took several dance lessons and practiced a lot at home.
We had a live band during canapés, consisting of some amazing and close friends.
We also had a DJ who provided great music throughout our reception.
