I did everything: from designing the stationary and cake topper, to styling my hair and ordering the flowers. It might not have been perfect, but it was ours.
I only heard about the dinner, our intoxicated wedding party managed to drop my and my new husband's plates, twice. It was apparently delicious and provided by the venue Kwalata Game Lodge.
Fortunately, my new husband and I had the chance to indulge: the heavenly wedding cake and cupcakes which was baked by Eston Lourens from Shake & Bake. https://www.facebook.com/shakenbakepretoria/
I designed the stationary and had it printed at a local printing shop. The A2 board with the seating arrangements came out green (instead of beige/brownish) so I won't name the provider so not to embarrass them. We printed another on paper, which was fine, and used both in the end.
My husband and I had a few lessons, as he isn't really a dancer, and practised a set dance for weeks - never in my dress. I designed a dress with a removable skirt specifically to be able to dance, but the designer kept a frilly thing at the back. The dress prevented me from stepping back without getting caught in the dress. Taking a step back was essential to most of our practised moves and the whole reception was delayed as we tried to change and manage the moves in my dress.
Eventually, the guests started dancing without us and my cousin, as one of those people, had a needle and thread with which she sew the frill up. Ta-da! We were able to have our first dance to our unconventional metal song. We had a DJ from the area who left early and - lighting?
