The most memorable moments were watching a video from my best friend in New Zealand, who couldn't make my wedding due to COVID-19. The letter and earrings gifted to me by my husband-to-be were so very special, and I wear those earrings everyday. My dad's response to seeing me all dressed up is something that will always stay with me because he is not someone who shows much emotion. Walking down the isle to the man of my dreams, the kiss, signing the register and, of course, the partying!
We honeymooned at Drakensberg Sun Resort. We went quad biking, pottery painting, zip lining and explored the beautiful surrounding areas.
I went for an updo hair style and a natural, smokey eye makeup look done by Gina Rodrigues. My wedding dress was a lace bodice with printed patterned tulle skirt from Sposabella. My veil was long and had lace on the end perimeter of the veil. I wore tan/ brown coloured heels and my jewelry was from Lovisa. I wore pearl earrings and a pearl hair piece. My lingerie was from La Terre Handmade intimates.
We got married at Canefields Country House Hotel just outside of Empangeni, where some of our guests also stayed for the night. It is situated amongst the sugarcane farms and near a forest, which is where we took our pictures.
In preparation for the big day, I did face treatments and face masks and I also used whitening toothpaste. I used Prosana hair products to help with hair growth and nourishment.
My close family friend did my décor and flowers - Christabella's. The colours were blue, white and greenery. We had a hoop of flowers at the alter which was later moved to the reception. Our underplates were a blue china to add to the blue theme. The rest was simple.
The groom wore a black suit and tie, and the groomsmen wore black chinos, longsleeve white shirts, and blue ties. All the men wore funky socks, as my husband always wears funky socks under his work clothes.
The bridesmaids wore a blue, flowy dress. It was off-shoulder with a frill and it had a diamanté belt in the waist. The bride designed the dresses and a dress maker made them.
Deseré Wadsworth was our amazing photographer and the our amazing videographer was Mist and Magic.
A close family friend made our delicious carrot cake with pecan nut and cream cheese icing.
Gielie and Amanda Swiegers prepared our food. And wow, they did not disappoint!
The bride designed the invites, seating charts and ceremony cards via Canva.
Our welcome boards, cake topper, and badges were made by Made With Love.
The bride, having dancing experience, choreographed the dance routine and taught her fiancé how to dance. The dance was only done in the week of the week as there was just no time before then. It was difficult at first but after a whiskey or two we got it right.
We had a DJ, Dalene Bruinslich, who did our sound and lighting.
