We had a very small, intimate wedding at our family home on our farm. the highlight was looking around at the people who were there and knowing that each and every one of them was so invested it our happiness and our future together. We had an family friend perform the ceremony and at the end all our friends and family collectively declared us ‘well and truly married!” :)
We haven’t gone on honeymoon yet, but have one planned for November this year. We’re going back to a tiny island off the coast of Madagascar (if COVID allows) where we went on our very first (and only haha) holiday together. Tsarabanjina, a Constance Hotel Group property, is the most beautiful, quiet, romantic spot and very down to earth. Sand bar, delicious food and cocktails on tap! What more could you ask for?
I went for something a little vintage and old school. My dress was made by a local dress maker in Nelspruit, Natalie Bezuidenhout. I did my hair and makeup myself, and my shoes were Russel and Bromley wedges that my mum handed down to me years ago! :) They are the most comfortable heels I’ve ever worn, I was even able to trek through the veld in them to get some sunset photos in the grass. Haha my engagement ring was from Brown’s, but my wedding ring was my mum’s that she bought second hand in Cape Town when her and my dad got married almost 40 years ago. So it has huge sentimental value.

We got married on our family farm, Katrinasrust Country Estate, and all our guests stayed over in the guest cottages. We made a weekend out of it with a braai on the Friday evening when everyone arrived, the wedding on Saturday, and a brunch on Sunday before they left.
We collected wild grasses and blue gum from the farm, and then bought in beautiful white roses from Tokoza Roses close by. The setting for the ceremony was very casual, just with beautiful chairs from Doug’s Hiring laid out on the grass and milk urns with field grass arrangements. My mum and mum in law sculpted an arch out of blue gum that linked the trees that we were standing under. The dinner setup all came from Doug’s hiring, and was very simple with white table clothes, flower arrangements down the centre, candles dotted here and there and fairly lights running through the flowers.

Since we had such a small wedding we didn’t have a bridal party, but the groom wore Old Khaki pretty much from head to toe. :) His ring was from Violet and Roses jewellery in Nelspruit.
We got married officially at the Home Affairs office in Belfast, and had a ceremony on the wedding day that was officiated by a friend.
We had an incredible photographer, Tim Pearce, who captured our day. He was incredible and made us feel so comfortable. Also the photos are amazing! :)
GT Lundi, from Zest in Nelspruit, catered the wedding and Sunday brunch for us and the food was unbelievably good. All the guests couldn’t stop raving about it. I made my own wedding cake though. :)
I did all the design work myself and Minuteman Press in Nelspruit did the printing for us.
Our reception was again very casual, my husband and I put together our ultimate playlist and just hit play and we all danced the night away!
