Our wedding was a weekend celebration. Families and friends coming together in my hometown, Elim in the Overberg where I grew up and it was always a dream to get married there. The whole day was magical, and everyone had great fun!
Our theme: Rustic Glam
The morning each of us had separate champagne breakfasts with our families. Myself, maid of honour and my father drove to church in a horse and carriage and after the church the bridal party drove to the venue which was just outside Elim in the horse and carriage. People waving at us as we drove through the main road in Elim felt so special!
Our canapes and wedding reception was on an open piece of land which we named “Hi-Chaparral” for the day, and we had bedouin and marque tents. The canapes were set up one side of the land and was a full rustic look and feel. After sunset, our guests then walked down a pathway to the glam reception area where we had our celebration.
We had all our speeches the afternoon at the canapes and the evening we just had loads of fun. We played a shoe game; our first dance; cake cutting; garter throwing; fires burning outside; band playing, everyone dancing, and we were sent off with sparkles.
Yes, we were on honeymoon for a week.
Our fairytale started at Arabella in Hermanus and we then took a drive to Knysna for the rest of the week where we stayed at various places in and around Knysna.
I can proudly say that I made my own dress, within 2 months! I attended design classes about 2 years ago and with the help of another student and lecturer, I made the dress. Each week the design changed and it looked nothing like the initial dress that I had in mind, had so much fun! Late nights and early mornings, but I wouldn't change it for the world.
* Rose gold shoes; fancy lingerie; arm bracelet that I borrowed from my "now" husbands aunt; earrings that I got as a present for attending my cousins wedding in Austria 4 year ago. The earrings was bought at the Swarovski in Innsbruck where the company was founded.
* Hair and makeup was done by Robynne G Hair and Beauty in Elim. She has her own hair and beauty salon in Elim.
We got married in Elim (Overberg) on an open piece of land; the owner of the land calls it "Hi-Chaparral" and he gave the name as when you stand on the land, you can see Elim's beautiful church and the whole village behind you.
All guests stayed in Elim for the whole weekend. We rented family homes and Elim's guest house for those that are not from Elim.
* For a few months leading up to the wedding I did some exercises like jogging; squads and rope jumping.
* Myself and my bestie/maid of honor did a few home spa treatments and I used activated charcoal powder for teeth whitening.
Canapes
We hired a bediun tent for the canapes and asked one of the farmers for an old wagon which we used as a table for the eats and treats. We had an old wheelbarrow where we kept champagne lollies with ice in; we used hay bales with some white lace on as seats for the guests. We build our own photobooth with wood and window's where our guests could take some lovely pictures.
Wedding reception
We hired the largest marque tent; white floors; chequered dance floor; fairy lights; disco light; square tables which was set up in a U shape all around the dance floor; outside lounge pods with fires that was burning; white bars and square bar tables.
We used different shaped cylinders with succulent flowers and protea's in; wooden boxes with candles and also some succulent and protea flowers in.
My bouquet was made up of succulents and king proteas.
The groom and groomsmen both wore black suits, waist coats, black tie and white shirt.
*Suites were hired at Euro Suites at Canal Walk.
We also had 2 small boys that carried the rings and they had on black shorts, bow-ties, and white shirts.
We only had one Maid of Honor and she wore a long wrap millennial pink dress; hair to the side with and a bling mask; black heels and some jewelry.
She bought her dress at YDE, Canal Walk.
We used Johann Botha Photography for the day.
Johan and his wife works together and the two of them were awesome! They made everything so much fun and they captured the most beautiful pictures of us and our guests. He also had a drone and we could take some nice shots of the whole land and view of Elim.
Yes, one of my long time friends and cousin from Elim helped us to plan the day and they also set up everything; Clint was also the coordinator for the day.
He made my bouquet and did all the flowers in the church and at the venue.
He started his own events planning company in this year and he is just the most awesome person!
Clint August; Elim
One of my uncles from Elim build us a horse and carriage for the day and is also now renting this out.
It was a green carriage and had space for 6 people. He used his own horses on the day.
WeBraai catering from Cape Town prepared our food for the day.

Our cake came from Springbok; one of my husbands long time family friends/aunt made the cake.
I've designed all our printed and digital stationary. We however had our invitations printed at Little Woodpecker which was a wooden turning circle.
Everyone danced the night away! We didn't take any dance lessons, just practiced our waltz steps at home a week before the time :)
Our wedding song: Beautiful in White from Westlife
We had a band and they did all the sound and lighting as well.
