we were in the same school we took the school bus together one day his friend said that willem has a crush on me and so as I am 5 years older I called willem to sit next to me and told him that I am flatered and that one day when he is 18 he can give me a call hahahaha !!! and so years after he came to visit me after making contact again and from there our relationship took of in 2017 and now have a beautiful daughter together and a son from his previous marrige.
We would have gotten married 28 March 2020 but on the 26th the country was put on lock down so we extended to 2021 and in the time of lock down willem's brother and is fiance and baby moved to the farm aswell and they also would have gotten married in 2020.
so as the year 2021 came i asked them if they would want to do a double wedding as all our family is far and then they do not have to come twice in one year and I had everything for the wedding so we just get the few extra things we need and they said yes so we just went from there got marrien don the farm in the field by these beautiful big trees were I wanted the ceremony and from the first time i was there I said to willem this is were my wedding will be one day and so it was we just moved the party to town at the show grounds but the seremony was on the farm just as I had planned and i loved it it was perfect we just had some wind that did not go well with every ones hair but it was fun and spontanious just as I imagined it in my head everyone worked hard and helped to make the day perfect.
We went for what we call a " bush braai" here on the farm with some family and as we were setting up the braai spot my parents got a bit lost and willem's nerves could not wait anymore so as I turnd around after picking up our daughter he was on his knee with a flower "suikerbos" and my ring we made from jewlery I enherited from my grand mother and we used that to make me a ring I always said i wanted to symbolise my own family and even more special also it will always remind me of my grand mother aswell. willems youngest brother was so shocked as he turnd around from making the fire he also saw willem on his knee as he did not know what willem was planning and he just said pleas pause I need to get this on camera and he started taking photos. willem is not a romantic but that day i was so suprised not just by him asking me but that he had planned something he woul normally not do and that ment so much to me. I obviuosly said yes and then he said now he has to go looking for my parents as the took a wrong turn to were we were and when they came I held my hand up for them to see the ring and my mom and dad just started crying. it was a very happy day
Truthfully for me everything was perfect and magical but most of all my husbands Face when he saw me as I am usually a plain jane.
No we couldnt go as I was still breastfeeding ant until now we did not yet get the opertunity to go
I went for a bohimian look kind of vintage as my dress was made out of old Doilies and lace with material we baught and the ladie from elizabeth designs from klein brak river she collected doillies froom alot of pensioner ladies in het comunity some even had stains from years back when there mothers and grand mothers used.
shoes was van heerden vellies and so interesting my surname now is also van heerden
Jewellery was all my own neckless i got from my father years ago when I was 16 he baught it in america
my hair piece was made out of leaves and feathers and plants out of our fields and Sumaria Looch made it by hand she is also from uniondale.
