There were so many special moments on our wedding day! Early morning I had coffee and later champagne with my bridesmaids and it was so nice how they treated and took care of me while we were getting ready for the big day. Another very special moment that gave me goosebumps was to receive a giftbag from my 'husband to be' as well as a letter he wrote to me - I did not expect it at all and will treasure it forever. The most emotional moment was definitely when I walked down the isle with my Dad and saw my husband. I couldn't wait to hug him and hold his hand. Another highlight was when we walked into the reception hall and everybody being so excited to welcome us. I like my new surname and it sounds like music in my ears. Our bridal party photos were also very fun. We had a blast with all bridesmaids and groomsmen and everybody were so happy, joking, laughing and being silly together. Our couple shoot was also special and intimate - just us, the photographer and videographer. I think for every couple their first dance is something special, but for us it was beyond that. The first time he asked me to dance 8 years ago was on that specific song and to dance on it again at our wedding was so special. It brought back a lot of happy memories but also made us excited to what the future will hold for us. Our wedding day was such a special day of our life and we wouldn't change anything.
We were fortunate to be on honeymoon for 2 weeks (during the uncertain time of corona) and we explored a number of places. Starting in Robertson at The Lab, then to Aman Dalia Cottages for two nights. From there we spent time in the Garden Route, including beautiful Knysna and Cape St Francis with a day visit to Addo Park, We end our honeymoon journey at the lovely Kenton-on-Sea.
Our wedding was modern and stylish with a personal touch. My hair was done by Janie le Roux and make-up by Elmaine Miskey (Elmaine Lourens make-up). I got my dress from Elizabeth Stockenström Wedding Gowns Boutique in Durbanville. Since the moment I saw it, I was madly in love with the Mikayla dress. The size, colour and sexy cut fitted me perfectly and I felt so comfortable in it. It is very modern with a classic twist and elegant all-in-one. My shoes was from Shoerama with a heel not too high so I could wear it all day and I liked the style and comfort. My jewelry was given to me as a gift from my mother especially for my wedding day. My earrings complimented my dress so beautifully as it also has a flower shape motif same as the beads on my dress and my bracelet looked like leaves that fits with everything.

We got married on Saturday 20 March 2021 at the beautiful venue DuVon Wine and Wedding Estate close to Robertson. Our guests stayed at Wederom, Goedereede and Rivierzicht guesthouses which are close by the wedding venue. DuVon also has accommodation where our groomsmen stayed.
My bridal beauty regime was to have a balanced healthy lifestyle. I have joined Bodytec where I got a 20 minute workout each week for 8 weeks prior to my wedding. (I loved it so much that I have signed up for another 10 weeks after our wedding). I continued with my normal routine with regards to my facial products Dermalogica and just went for a facial at Blushing Beauty 2 weeks prior to my wedding. The Thursday before the wedding, I had my hair cut and highlighted at my hairdresser Candy from Shameless Hair (she is my hairdresser for the past 11 years).
My decor and flowers were done by the wonderful Antoinette Events from Bredarsdorp. It was modern and stylish and have met all my expectations! My husband and I gave each guest a personalized appreciation letter to thank them for being there and being in our lives. The warm atmosphere that the fairy lights and candles created together with the flowers were breathtaking. The flower decorations in different shades of pink and white were exactly as we had in mind. King proteas are very special to me because they were the first flowers my husband gave me many years back and I hope with this, we can make an institution to continue the tradition. DuVon Wedding and Wine Estates where we had our reception, provided the furniture, cutlery and crockery and lightning, sound and music were supplied by my brother-in-law's company.
Mr Suit Hire provided the suits that we rented from them and we got excellent service. As a gift, each groomsmen and the groom received a grooms bag with their names embroidered on it, personalized socks and ties - bought at JC Click Store. I bought my husband's silk tie at Woolworths. White shirts from Old Khaki and each man was responsible for his own black shoes and belt.
My bridesmaids wore dark green beaded satin and chiffon dresses that I designed. I wanted something different as the norm and I found a few ideas on Pinterest and combined it with my own. It was important for me that they feel comfortable and look good and special. When I showed them the design they really liked it. The dresses was made by Matthew from MS Creations. He did an amazing job as all my bridesmaids looked stunning in their dresses. As a gift I gave each bridesmaid a silwer pair of earrings and my sister who was also my maid of honor, got a bracelet too. Their hair was also taken care of by Janie le Roux and make-up by Elmaine Miskey.
Our marriage officer is a family friend. It is my father-in-law's best friend since University. My husband and I also have a special bond with Richard van der Westhuizen and decided it will make our day more special and personal when he marry us.
Celesté from Aglow Photography was the first person we booked after we got engaged. I love her work and personality. She is such a bubbly, friendly and hard working person - she focus on the detail and make a bride feels so calm and relaxed on her special day. I would highly recommend her! Our videographer was Donald Photo Video, who recorded our wedding video for us and very clued up. We also had a photo booth supplied by Moments2Media. I met them at a wedding expo and absolutely liked all of it. There are different backgrounds that one can choose from and every guest and the bridal couple get each the printed photos.

I did not have a planner. I planned the day myself together with my husband, mom, mother-in-law and bridesmaids.
My husband arranged the wedding car. It was a smart light blue 1935 Chevrolet GT that he hired privately. It fitted in perfectly with our wedding and photos.
The food was prepared by the venue DuVon Wine and Wedding Estate where we got married. It was devine! We had canapés and the main course was a set meal - slow roasted lamb neck, creamy spinach, potato wedges, pumpkin fritters and an amazing salad containing strawberries, rocket, feta cheese, pumpkin seed with a balsamic glaze. My best friend's mom, Mrs Kirsten, offered to bake our wedding cake as a gift and it was such a special gesture. The top layer was a cappuccino flavored cake and the bottom layer carrot cake and melt in the mouth delicious. We had other desserts and confectionery as well that we bought. Doughnuts from Krispy Kreme, koeksisters we bought at a little bakery Eat@. Candy and Lace supplied the brownies and macaroons. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law made small milk tarts and fudge squares which was the best I have ever tasted - a famous family recipe.
We had a waiver at the church service indicating the whole programme of the day, designed and printed by Out of the Woods. It was something different and loved by everybody. The personalized letters for each guest, I designed and printed myself. My husband helped me to write the letters.
Our reception area looked like a fairy tale with all the fairy lights and decorated flower centerpieces tumbled from the roof. Our tables were laid with lots of flower bouquets and candles which created a romantic theme. My brother-in-law has a sound and lighting company and he supplied our music, sound and lightning. Our first dance was very special to us, as it was also the song on which my husband first asked me to dance 8 years ago. With our dance floor opening, lights were dimmed and all guests lit sparklers and it created a stunning atmosphere. We are good dancers and did not see the purpose to go for lessons.
