My absolute favorite part of my wedding day was the fact that it was actually able to take place after already being prosponed once due to Covid-19. Having our closest family and friends there with me and my husband knowing our story and how much we longed for the day to happen was absolutely a blessing. And to have been able to spend this special day in such an amazing setting at Langkloof Roses in Wellington was just and extra bonus.
We where only able to go on honeymoon about two months later due to our work schedules. I was then surprised with a 4 DAY stay at Shamwari Lodge in the Eastern Cape.
My amazing Wedding dress was made by Robyn Roberts Bridal. I was absolutely in love with it. It was plain and simple but it suited me perfect. Our wedding was a morning brunch wedding so the dress had to have a bit of charm but still not be to much. My hair and make-up was done by a family friend and my hairdresser for many years. My make-up needed to be sofisticated but suttle and my hair definitely a side bun some way or the other. I am not a very fussy person when it comes to small things like that and the fact the the day was actually happening meant more to me than anything else. My wedding shoes was designed and given to me as a gift from my cousin who used to be a wedding shoe designer in London. That was her last pair in my size. My accessories I brought at a market in Stellenbosch and my bracelet was my wedding gift from my husband on the day.
Our wedding venue was the amazing Langkloof Roses in Wellington. Our ceremony where outside in the garden and our reception on the veranda. They also had places available for some of our guests to stay over for the weekend. I also got dressed there as well as my husband.
I myself am a Skincare therapist. So luckily I've been very good at taking care of my skin forever. I just kept on doing my normal skincare routine every day with my Lamelle skincare products together with 4 chemical peel treatments once a month leading up to the wedding. As for fitness and all thre other things, that was really not a priority to me. I am happy in my own skin and I feel beautiful exactly as I am.
Seeing as my venue was so pretty already and everything was done outside in the garden we really did not need much decor. Me and my Mom and my best friend did al the flowers ourselves. It was only greenery with a little bit of plum in between. I wanted everything as natural as possible. I only rented my plum wine glasses and white serviettes. All of the wooden tables and gost chairs came with the venue. A few personal touches with some photos of me and my husband over the years just finished things of perfectly.
My husband wore a shirt and pants from Woolworths. His bow was a gift, and his vellies his had for many years already. His Best Man wore clothes he had in his cupboard. They are both not people who likes to dress up much so I had to make them feel as comfortable as possible but still make them look appropriate
I only had one Maid of honour. Her dress was brought at Pick & Pay clothing. Our main aim was to get something that fits comfortably, and that she can wear again no matter what. Whether casual or dressing up. And saving money as best we can.
It was my childhood priest. John Le Roux
Our Photographer was Liezl from Liezl Photography. She is from the Wellington area and she know the venu like the back of her hand. We had her take our engagement photos as well so we could be relaxed around her on the big day. She made me and my husband look and feel like a million bucks. We are both not very keen on taking pictures so that made it alot easier. Some of our family and friends also took videos and photos that they sent us afterwards.
I've always said planning my wedding would be a personal experience. So I did most of the organizing, together with some help from my Mom, Mother in law and my beste friend/maid of honour.
Ou food was prepared by a lady that my venue usually used and it was amazing. It was a huge harvest table full of little finger foods, sweet and savory. I had 2 wedding cakes and that was made by my Aunt and given to us a wedding present and it was eaten as desert on the wedding.
I did all of it myself.
As it was a brunch wedding we did not have a lot of time for dancing and it was not really appropriate for that time of the day. Me and my husband made a Playlist of our own favorite songs that just played in the background. We are not good dancers at all but he did surprise me with a quick dance on our favorite song once only our family was still around.
