13 February 2021! What a day to remember!
My hubby and I would've gotten married on the 10th of October 2020 but OBVIOUSLY, Covid ruined everything.
I was heartbroken when I heard we had to postpone our wedding. My husband and I were on the verge of running to the courthouse to get married. We just wanted to be husband and wife already! I remember my parents telling me "you can't just have 30 people at your wedding, it's absurd." (We have a MASSIVE family) And they were adamant that we postpone in order to have a bigger wedding. Back in the day, my parents had almost 200 people at their wedding. Knowing this, I went to them both separately one day and I asked them the following question: "What was the most important thing about your wedding day? Celebrating with family and friends, the dress, the party, the food, the dancing?" and my mom responded "I didn't care about ANY of that. I didn't know half of the people who were at the wedding. All I wanted and all I could think about was marrying your dad. I couldn't care less who attended, what we wore, or anything else." I then, went to my dad and I asked him the same question. He responded with "The Honeymoon night!" so we laughed and then he continued saying "I couldn't wait to see your mom walking down the aisle, I couldn't wait to marry my best friend" Then I got both of them together and I told them the following: The main purpose of your wedding was because you couldn't wait to marry each other. You were so insanely in love that the people, food, music and clothes didn't matter and that's exactly how I feel about marrying my husband. I could see that they started to realise what I meant and completely agreed.
Fast forward to the day, I was so incredibly calm and relaxed. We were both so at ease and content. When I was walking down the aisle, I saw him swallow the tears away and it was so sincere and beautiful. I remember walking towards my husband and instantly giving him a hug and a kiss once my dad "gave me away" It was so funny because obviously I wasn't (traditionally) allowed to kiss him (yet) but I was simply too ecstatic to see him, I didn't think straight so I just kissed him! Everyone laughed and it was actually so special. Both of us cried the ENTIRE time the pastor was preaching and it was such a special, intimate moment.
Being married to him IS a Honeymoon! But in a literal meaning, we didn't go on a Honeymoon because of Covid-19 restrictions. We stayed in Langebaan for a week and plan to take a proper Honeymoon once the restrictions have completely lifted.
My engagement ring was made by the amazingly talented Jack Friedman Jewellers. I'm still in love with my ring ever since!
My wedding band and my husbands wedding ring was made by ALTERnate Design and she put in so much effort, time and love into it.
My dress was absolute perfection! It had lace, subtle glittery detail, a low back and thin diamante straps with the most insanely beautiful train. Made by the talented Maralize Craill from MC Design & Couture.
I had so many "something borrowed" that I didn't even care about the "something blue or something new". My sister in law lent me her veil, my husband's cousin borrowed me the bracelet that she wore on her wedding day. My best friend and bridesmaid borrowed me a very special pair of teardrop earrings.
My makeup and hair was EVERYTHING I dreamed of! Sharon from True Reflection H&M. We had so much fun with the trials and she completely blew me away with her talented skills. I was so happy, shocked and excited when I saw myself in the mirror once she was done with my makeup.
I believe that makeup and hairstyling are tools to enhance one’s natural beauty.
I got married at De Oudekraal Wedding Venue between Napier and Bredasdorp in the Overberg region in the Western Cape.
It's such a perfect, rustic and easy-going wedding venue. There was accommodation at the wedding venue and I know they are busy with developing a camping ground as well.
I went to Heaven Scent in Panorama (Cape Town) for my eyelashes, full body massage, waxing and tanning. I also went to Sorbet in Tygervalley for my manicure and pedicure.
My wedding colours were green, maroon and gold.
Carin gave me everything I wanted! She was so patient with my requests and gave me wonderful ideas. My main flowers were Proteas and I had pennygum leaves, roses and other greenery as well. I had golden plates and maroon candles. I had the most beautiful flower arch ever and it was everything I wanted and more!
I hit the jackpot with my bridesmaid dresses. I was looking on Zando (online) and saw exactly what I wanted. All 3 dresses were under R1000!! It was beautiful! It was a maroon & green flowers boob-tube, short pants suit with a long train, giving it the dress illusion.

Instead of just looking for a photographer, I went on to the venue's website and looked at all the photos uploaded. One photographer caught my eye and I knew I wanted her, NO MATTER WHAT! Her name is Elsa, she's beautiful and so friendly and easy to work with. She captured everything perfectly and I couldn't be more grateful for her!
Soet Bakery made my wedding cake, it was the most beautiful cake ever and it was exactly what I wanted. It was a chocolate cake with complete gold coverage. They went the extra mile and I can honestly say it's the best cake I've ever had!
Crackling Foods service arranged our wedding appetisers with cheese and snack platters.
Since it was such an intimate wedding, we arranged the music ourselves. It was perfect!
