The most special and memorable moment, for both my husband and myself, would be where I walked down the aisle meeting my husband halfway. He was so emotion and excited, he could not wait for me to reach the end of the aisle. He met me halfway (as every marriage should be between two partners). Then, we continued walking down the other half of the aisle together.
Another special and memorable moment for the both of us, would be when we exchanged our vows and made promises to one another for the rest of our lives together. We were both very emotional, yet very excited and happy.
Another touching moment for me, would be where my father had to give me away to my husband. Apparently some of the guests said that he shed a tear but I did not have the chance to notice, as my eyes were locked on my husband walking towards me from the end of the aisle.
The biggest highlight would be our choreographed first dance that left all the guests speechless and that the dance went without a hitch. The father and daughter dance was very emotional and precious to me as well.
These moments and memories will be cherished forever.
We got married the 30th of October 2021. So, we decided to split our honeymoon, due to work related commitments and limitations.
We had a mini-moon in the Drakensberg at Cayley Lodge after our wedding. We just wanted a relaxing holiday after the wedding. We did activities such as horse riding, zip lining, scooter tours, hiking, reptile tour, bird show, we visited Scrumpy Jacks restaurant and had quality time together staring at the stars and relaxing boat rides on the dam. We also visited the local brewery (Drakensberg brewery), Catheral Peak Wine Estate and the Drakensberg Chocolate Memories.
We had our honeymoon in Zanzibar at Karafuu Beach Resort and Spa. It was an absolute tropical paradise. The views were unbelievably amazing, as well as the culture and people. We went on the Blue Safari tour, the Mnemba island tour, we visited the turtle aquarium, the Spice tour and the Stone town tour. It was paradise! We also had chilled days, where we relaxed on the beach or at the pool area, as well as supported the locals by getting a massage on the beach. We also bought souvenirs to take with back home. It was an absolutely amazing and unforgettable experience for the both of us.
I would describe my look as being related to the movie 'Frozen'. I had the same type of hairstyle with floral clips for decoration. My make-up was applied in a way that accentuated my facial features like my eyes, lips, cheek bones etc. My hair and make-up supplier was Angelic Allure make-up and hair.
My wedding dress was all lace with three dimensional flowers, glitter, sequence and patterns on it. It expressed my personality, which was bold like me. I had a soft mesh train at the back of my dress, with a long veil that had three dimensional flowers, sequence, lace and beads around the trim that complemented the wedding dress. The wedding dress also had soft mesh at the sleeves along the forearm of the wedding dress. I found my wedding dress at Michelangela Bridal Boutique.
I was going for a typical Cinderella vibe glass slippers wedding heels. The shoes were decorated with glass bead decorations all over the shoe and in the front of the shoe, were floral glass beads to complement the dress.
Lingerie - All white two piece (criss-cross push-up bra and criss-cross thong), with diamantes as decorations, suspenders, stockings and the same wedding heels. I got my lingerie from Bras N Things.
My jewellery for the day was Swarovski crystal earrings with the necklace (wedding gift from my brother on the day). Then, to complement the rest of the jewellery, I wore my engagement ring and wedding band.
Something old, new, borrowed and blue - I wore a blue garter (bedazzled) under my wedding dress with a butterfly broach at the front of my bouquet as something borrowed and old( I got the butterfly broach from my mother-in-law), with my Swarovski jewellery, as something new.
We got married at Glenburn Lodge and Spa in Muldersdrift.
Yes, we had a weekend wedding with family and the wedding party, staying over on the Friday evening, whereby we had an informal dinner such that everyone could get to know one another.
For the Saturday evening of the wedding, most guests stayed over at the venue, as there was more than enough accommodation available.
I have always been using a facial skincare routine every morning and night (Brand: Payot), where I applied day and night cream, with eye serum leading up to the wedding day.
I also used and currently still use face masks every weekend for radiance, moisturization, collagen boost, etc. I also exfoliated my skin every second day by using a body and facial scrub/wash. After that, I would do a full body and face moisturization. (Garnier face wash/scrub and face masks) (Body scrub and body butter: Sorbet).
I would either go for a jog/run on some days or gym on other days. Either way, I would ensure that I exercise for five of the seven days in a week.
We also went to see a dietitian, in order to ensure our eating habits were in order, such that we could look our best on our special day. (Our dietitian: Nikki Verwey dietitian)
A dental check-up and cleanse would occur every three to six months.
The decor and decorations were supplied by Cafe Fleur, based in Sandton.
Our theme was Royalty, and as such, we mainly incorporated red and white roses, as well as blue sprayed roses.
We had a center piece, which consisted of a single red rose, surrounded by fairy lights concealed within a glass dome, on top of a mirror box.
My groom wore a royal blue suit with a red and blue tie with a unique pattern as well as a textured white shirt. The groomsmen wore grey suits which were neutral to the theme: Royalty. The groom and groomsmen got their suits from Eurosuit Rivonia.
Groom and groomsmen ties: Twirl
The bridesmaids wore royal red dresses to fit with the theme: Royalty. The bottom section of the bridesmaid dresses had to be similar. They could choose whether or not they would like a slit on the side of the dress. As for the top section of the dress, I allowed them to choose their own top section for their dress, hence all of them had different top sections for their dresses. I got the inspiration for their dresses from a Pinterest picture that I saw and admired. I also allowed them to choose their own type of heels that they prefer, as long as it was black.
Bridesmaid dresses and alterations: Bridal Alchemy.
Our marriage officer was Elder Gorie from the Old Apostolic Church as this is the church which I attend.
Our wedding photographer and videographer was The Lightbulb.
Our wedding planner was Claudia Botha who worked for Glenburn Lodge and Spa at the time leading up to and during our wedding. She was fabulous in dealing with the postponements of the wedding due to the Covid-19 restrictions and made us comfortable in the lead up to our special day.
We did not require formal transport for the wedding as all was in one central area and close to the venue.
The food was prepared by Glenburn Lodge and Spa, which was amazing and too much for everyone to finish. The beautiful, delicious cake was supplied by LaMoraine Cakes.
Our stationery supplier was I Create Designs, which was absolutely beautiful.
Yes we took dance lessons at Five6Seven8 dance studio, with a perfect choreographed first dance. Our sound, lighting and DJ, was supplied by Prelude entertainment, who managed to capture the vibe at each moment and keep the dance floor alive.
