For as long as I can remember I have always said that I didn't want a wedding. I would have been happy just eloping. My family wanted me to have a small wedding and so that's what I planned, 25 guests max.
Two weeks before our wedding, lock down was announced and gatherings were restricted. We cancelled our small wedding and I got the intimate ceremony I had always wanted.
I saw a dress on Instagram that I really liked and we used it as inspiration for my dress. I am very much a "plain Jane" and wanted something practical that I could wear again.
I wore comfortable flat sandals and simple earrings. My hairstylist curled my hair and I did my own make up.
Because of the restrictions, we had an intimate ceremony at my parents in law's house.
I planned on having a couple of peels done before the big day but I got Covid and in the end I didn't have any treatments done.
My mother in law surprised me by having the backyard decorated. The neighbour made my bouquet and there were fairy lights and flowers all around.
My husband wore a simple white shirt, black pants and shoes and a black bow tie.
On the day of our wedding we had our family take photos. Three months after getting married, we got dressed up again and had a photoshoot with the amazing photographer, Justin Govender.
My mom made some canapés and my cousin baked us a wedding cake.
A dear friend of mine, Marcelle Segal, designed our wedding invitations.
After our ceremony, we had canapés and drinks.
