I met my true love in 2011 and we dated for 8years. In 2019 my dream came true when he proposed and we started planning our wedding day for May 2020. After COVID regulations and lockdown making things impossible we had to postpone our wedding. When we learned that things will not go back to normal soon we decided to get married on a family farm in August 2020 with only our closest family and friends. Things never came easy for us and we had to make a lot of compromises. When I look back at our wedding I don’t remember the tears shed but only laughter and love. This experience taught us to remember what the true reason for a wedding and marriage is. A promise made in the presence of God to truly love each other. To celebrate the love between two people and in that moment no one else matters. I am happily married and wouldn’t change a thing, because I married my best friend and we survived a covid wedding.
We managed to have a weekend getaway to Clarens after our wedding. But our actual Honeymoon in Thailand is still awaiting. We hope to travel soon.
I wanted a rustic but romantic wedding, with white roses, greenery and lots of candles. We managed to do most of the arrangements ourselves thanks to my fabulous friends and family.

Corné van Niekerk Photography from Schweizer-Reneke. She went the extra mile to capture our special day and the results were amazing. She even came to our own farm in Vryburg the Sunday after our wedding to capture more photos during sundown. I am extremely happy with her services and would highly recommend her.
I planned my own wedding, twice!
With the help of family and friends.
We did not have a wedding car.
Elana Bosch from E&M catering in Vryburg prepared our delicious meals. Harvest table with spreads and bread for snacks, Butter Chicken and Lamb Shanks with Vegetables and Salad for main meal and a traditional milktart and chocolate warm pudding for dessert.
I ordered cheeses from Van Gaalen in Hartbeespoort and she also assembled our wedding cake as part of the snacks.
I designed and printed my own stationary used.
We had a local DJ (DJ Spokie) from Vryburg. She did the lighting and music.
We did not take any dance lessons and decided to sokkie sokkie like we always do.
