Just to have been able to share our special day with close family and friends was a highlight in itself. I was THRILLED to hear that my "baby" sister was able to come down for the wedding from Johannesburg. That was my biggest worry since we were in a very strict lockdown level 3.
Amongst other things, I was very happy that my MOM & Grandmother was able to witness her eldest daughter getting married and walking me down the aisle. I was also able to sing to my husband during the ceremony.
What I am also most thankful for is all my family, friends and a colleague (whom I only got to know for just over a year) who offered to help. I wouldn't have been able to do it all without them and I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart. May the blessing of the Lord rest upon their lives

Due to lockdown restrictions we did not plan to go anywhere for our honeymoon. Yet again the hand of God was at work and we just received a call from someone who advised us that we could go to a small coastal town of Hermanus for our initial honeymoon.
To the people who made it all possible (Veronica Du Plessis and tannie Lynn Kraft), A VERY BIG THANK YOU!!!
Since I am not a jewelry person, I only wore my pearl pendant earrings with matching necklace. I was SO BLESSED beyond measure where my entire wedding is concerned. Gifts just pour in. Another friend of mine Eunice Layman offered to buy me 2 pairs of shoes for my wedding. Shoes were bought from Superbalist.
My wedding dress I bought 2 weeks in advance from a bridal boutique in Parow called LITTLE THINGS & BIG MOMENTS.
I did my own make-up & hair since I wanted a natural look.
We got married at our church, Latter Rain Mission International - Fairhaven Faith Home (Cape Town).
I LOVE tulips, but was unable to source them as they were out of season. I thus opted for Lilies. A friend of mine who works for a flower export company were kind enough to create my flower bouquets for me as a gift. I just sent her the money for the flowers which se bought from Alsmeer and the lilies were from Woolworths.
My husband and his groomsmen wore a silver grey suit. The suits were bought from Mr Suit Hire.
Because I had to plan our wedding within 3 weeks, I gave my bridesmaids (my two sisters) free reign to wear whatever they want. I just gave them my color scheme and that was it! I loved their dresses especially because it was nothing like your traditional wedding. On the day my middle sister still went to shop (Truworths or Foschini) for a dress can you believe it :-) But everything just blended in well with my colors and flower and the dresses of the flower girls as well. My baby sister had her dress made by a tailor 2 days before she flew down to Cape Town.
Our marriage officer was Samuel Maku. He is a magistrate, family friend and also congregant in our church.
Our photographer was Charlton (CHL Photography) with the assistance of his wife Anysia. I am very grateful to them for agreeing and participating in this way making our special day even more special.
I did not have a wedding planner since we just decided one Saturday evening on a date for 3 weeks later. And because it was lockdown with regulations only allowing 50 people at weddings, I think it was easier to manage. Within 3 weeks I planned and arranged everything, with help from my fiance and friend Brigitte.
My wedding transport was gifted to me by my lifetime friend, Brigitte Levendal, who has been by my side since the last 16 years. We met at work when I did my in-service training at the time. We were in one department, but different sections. I always admired her and thought she was very classy.
In 2004 tragedy struck our family and I lost my daughter of 7 years old to a car accident. I was so surprised when I learnt that she came with another colleague to the funeral. Ever since then a friendship was born and we have been through ups and downs together. Thank you Miss B. I love you to infinity and beyond!!
My mother-in-law Janet is a great cook and she agreed to do the cooking for us after we approached her. We bought all the necessities and she did the rest. My sisters also assisted with cooking some of the foods as well as helping with the invites. I couldn't have done it without them and I love and appreciate them so so much!!
My wedding cake was done by Madelein Du Plessis (Hermanus). She has her own baking business and bakes for stores like Perigreen in Grabouw. I gave her a picture of the cake that loved and found on Pinterest and she made it exactly like that with a twist. Thank you Madelein for squeezing me into your busy schedule! Much appreciated!!
I designed the invitations myself and printed it at a printing company (Minuteman Press) close to me.
I did not have any DJ/live band or music, although I would've loved to have it. This was due to the lockdown restrictions as well and we just enjoyed ourselves dancing to the music from one of the guest's playlist. Also the curfew was still 21:00, so we had to finish in time so that guests could still be home in time.
