A day that was truly meant for us, a date that was set two years ago, the last weekend where weddings were allowed following the notice of a nation wide lockdown, a morning that started with rain en clouds but had cleared up just before our guests arrived but most of all, a day that was filled with the presence of The Holy Spirit and unconditional love. This was our wedding day.
No, our plan was to go to Zanzibar during the Winter for our honeymoon but then Covid-19 happened and so we are yet to go on honeymoon.
As a surprise for my husband, I arranged two-day getaway to the beautiful golf resort and spa, Oubaai Hotel.
For my wedding look, I wanted to be bold by making a statement with elegance and grace yet still be fashionable and unique. I wanted something different as opposed to the bridal look trending at the moment but still be identifiable as me.
For my hair, I chose a sleek, romantic, low bun. It was a classical hairstyle but understated so that the focus could be on my face.
For my makeup, I chose the complete opposite look and feel as my hair. I chose plum-like colours for my eyes and a dusty pink for my lips. As for coverage, I had the choice to cover my freckles completly or having a natual coverage and glow. For many years I was very insecure about my freckles but have accepted it as something unique about me. Having said that, I chose a more natural coverage.
My hair and makeup was done by Tatiana Herbst. She is the owner of Tatiana Herbst Hair and Makeup and a real magician with makeup brushes!
Before I had gone dress shopping, my biggest concern was that I wasn't going to find that "Wow" dress and my biggest fear was that I had to settle for a dress that I'm not completly confident about. Luckily when I went for my bridal fitting at The Wedding Boutique in Woodstock, Cape Town I found the perfect dress with that unique and elegant characteristic that I wanted.
For my accessories, I completed my bridal look with pearl drop earrings which complimented my soft tulle cathedral veil with pearls.
My shoes added a little sparkle and much needed height seeing that my husband is 30 centimeters taller than me. My shoes were also the "something old" because I bought them for my Matric farewell. It was a strappy stilleto that tied around the ankle.
My gater set was handmade by Dagdromer, an online bridal accessories shop.
If there is one thing that I truly love, it is making someone feel good about themselves and, in essence, also making them happy.
Our studios based in Cape Town and Johannesburg are fresh, vibrant and above all modern.
We got married at Diamant Estate in Paarl.
This beautiful and historic wine farm is an all-in-one venue. They offer luxury accommodation for 24 guests in the The Manor House and Pioneer House.
Because we has guests who travelled far to attend the wedding we decided to book all accommodation when we booked our venue. This way we assisted those guests who came from far.
My bridal regime included a manicure, pedicure and spray tan two days before the wedding.
Being someone who loves self-pampering, I went for a purifying facial one week before the wedding to ensure that my skin looks healthy and have a radiant glow. The facial included a lip wax, brow shaping and brow tinting.
My husband and I try to exercise regulary and have a well-balanced diet so we just kept up with our healty lifestyle.
