The scenery and tranquility of Clarens, "The jewel of the Free State" gave an extra special atmosphere to our intimate wedding. We had a fun filled destination wedding weekend with our closest friends and family exploring and absorbing nature, especially the spectacular sandstone mountains.
We had to postpone our honeymoon plans due to the covid-19 pandemic, but are planning on traveling through South Africa later this year or early in 2021.
I wore an elegant mermaid wedding gown by designer Eczotre. It was made with a soft shimmer layer and luxury lace. My shoes were Lurex stilleto court rose gold from Utopia. The make up was a soft natural look done by the fabulous Stephanie from Rubywoo. My hair was done by Genesis hair design, with soft curls half pinned and my medium length hair draped down my back. I wore long feint earrings from lovisa. The completed look was simple yet elegant.
We got married at Andes Guestfarm, 5km outside of Clarens. The church ceremony was in the "boskerk" at Andes filled with trees, flowers and a lot of green natural surroundings. The reception was in the reception hall at Andes. Andreas and I stayed the night at Andes. Our guests stayed mainly at the Clarens Golf Estate and the rest in guesthouses in Clarens as it was a destination wedding.
I firmly believe in feeling and looking like yourself on you wedding day. I did my normal skincare routine with my normal skincare products. We went to a fitness center to shed some kg's off and started a diet plan but stopped as soon as I lost too much weight. We are normally healthy eaters with a few treats and cheats every now and then. So we did not do too much out of the ordinary.
The decor mainly consisted of flowers, candles and fairylights. Flowers were placed beautifully at entrances and on coffee tables. The tables were decorated with a flower runner and candles for an extra intimate feeling. Fairylights were nicely draped on the roof and also the outside chilling area. Chandeliers also hung from the roof and set a very romantic mood. We had beautiful Tiffany chairs that looked fantastic to the wood tables with the flower runner.
Anneke Human from Seven Quarters Photography did a specular job in capturing our special moments. Her friendliness and personal touch showed emotion in the pictures. She has an eye for perfection and beauty in every photo she takes.
Philna Naude and Marilize planned the wedding and did an excellent job. They exceeded our expectations. I am not the most helpful bride and felt quite of of place whilst planning the wedding. The took the strides and turned my half ideas into a true fairytale wedding.
We did not have wedding transport as the church and reception ceremony was at the same venue.
Abrie Posthumus from Brandmerk, also the best man, did all the designs and printing. If he was a super hero, his powers would be to turn nothing into the most beautiful design.
Our reception was very relaxing. We only had a few short speeches and disposed some wedding traditions. I did not wear a garter for my newly husband to take off and through into the crowd of bachelors. I also did not throw the bouquet, but I rather blessed a couple next in line to be married and gave the soon to be bride a flower from the bouquet and handed to boutique to my mother as a symbol of my leaving my family to cleave to my husband. We had a Dj, Zane from Exclusive Sounds, who had the guests well entertained with wonderful music and as a bonus, karaoke. Their extra lighting set the mood for a fun party and we partied til morning hours. Our wedding dance was a slow romantic dance with less trimmings and more of us in the moment. Therefore we did not attend any dance lessons.
