We met in High School and were close friends until 13 February 2010 when my husband asked me who it was I fancied... I have always been quite outspoken and I immediately jumped at the question and told him I liked him! He was the nerdy type and I was more the "jock" type (so we were a total cliché). Shortly after, on 9 March 2010, we started dating and have been together ever since.
High School sweet hearts taking on this thing called "life" hand in hand.
It was the day before our 7 and a half year dating anniversary (also the day before I was to get my nails done - cringe).
We were in the comfort of our own little home with movies and our favourite junk food and just enjoying our time together.
At this stage I was very much into Hubbly Bubbly and was instructed to make one for us before the movie... I grabbed all the working parts and started ahead with my task - little did I know that my engagement ring was hidden in the compartment where you would put the Hubbly flavour and, accordingly, much to my husband's chagrin, I proceeded to "clean" the apparatus which has my ring snuggly tucked away. He was mortified and very concerned I'd end up losing or breaking the ring.
Eventually, I happened to notice there was absolutely nothing to clean and there was in fact a ring!!
My husband is quite a joker, and honestly I didn't believe that this was real and I proceeded to ask (and I'm not exaggerating) about 7 times, whether or not he was joking all the while he was down on one knee!
Ours may not be a conventional romantic movie class proposal, but my man took the time to surround me with all of my favourite things and kept to his quirky nature and to me... That's nothing short of perfect!
