Getting the giggles during the Lords Prayer like I used to as a child in church. My wife kept telling me to “shhhh” but I couldn’t stop!
We went to an island off the coast of Mozambique - it was absolutely incredible. Just the two of us on the island. I’m a teacher so while we were there we visited the local school. We swam with dolphins, drank (plenty) of cocktails on the beach and walked for ages along a desolate beachfront.
My wedding dress was basically Hillary Duff wore in A Cinderella Story. Fairytale - very “The Wedding Planner” style wedding. Dress by Enzoani, Organisers were Kraak (absolutely fabulous team). My crown was specially made for me by Madison De Villiers and sent from England. My Hair was done by Leandi- it was all down and loosely curled with a crown ontop. My make up was done by Michelle Collins and I wanted it to look as natural as possible - plenty of nudes and gold. My shoes were borrowed from my Mother-in-Law - Think Ever After, the ones Drew Barrymore wore (except mine were Gucci). I wore Dior lingerie, I borrowed the earrings my sister wore at her wedding Miss Ellie NYC. My engagement ring is a 3ct pear shaped diamond, and my wedding band is a 4ct half eternity. I wore my Tag Heuer golf watch as my only accessory.
We got married on Moreson Wine Farm at the Gin Palace. It belongs to my wife’s Maid-of-Honour and it was special to us. We stayed at La Cotte Farmhouse and took over the entire farm (Hotel, cottages, main house etc) so that our guests could spend the whole weekend with us.
I did not change much. I kept using my Clarins and Dermalogica face products, I added plenty of vitamins and tissue salts into my daily schedule. I drank only water - no alcohol (until the wedding week ofcourse). We went to Leeu House Spa for a few massages, Chelsea Health and Beauty took care of my body beauty. The rest is a little more graphic so let’s leave it at that!
Fairytale Garden. Indoor Forest. Grapes hanging on vines from the ceiling. Hydrangeas, roses, wisterias...it was so beautiful. The wedding was Black Tie so it was very olden day chic. Different plates decorations, gold cutlery, velvet couches and furniture.
My wife and her Brooms wore pant suits made by Marion Mellor in JHB. My wife wore a Tuxedo by Tiger of Sweden. She held a cane, had solid golden cuff links with my name and the name of our passed on Doggy (Camel). My wife’s shoes were Dune and her shirt was specially made by the most amazing Elizabeth at five8ths in JHB.
My bridesmaids wore pearl earrings, a black silk dress from Zara, and black high heels from Country Road.
Anthony Lister - he was fantastic at combing both of our religions at the ceremony. I am Roman Catholic and my wife is Greek Orthodox.
Jenni Elizabeth - she is a magician with the camera.
My sister drove me in my dads car (we are very close) and the rest of the guests used Franschhoek Transport.
Chris Erasmus - a Michelin star chef.
We actually practiced a Sokkie dance seeing as I went to a boarding school in Somerset West. I was taught how to Sokkie there but we made it fun because I lead the dance as the boy would usually do!
In 2005, a new bridal collection emerged and quickly rose to compete with top brands by merging traditional and modern European styles into exquisitely hand crafted gowns.
