Wow! What a perfect day it was. Some highlights of my wedding day was definitely the fact that I was one of the bride's who were able to have their wedding during this pandemic. Even though I had to cancel my entire wedding and replan 3 months before, we were so privileged to have our family and friends with us... masks and all. Furthermore, one of my definite highlights was having my mom at my wedding. She has been winning the battle against alcoholism for a year and 9 months now. Having her there is a dream come true after a very long road! And then officially at 15h00 (after stressing about the rain until 12h00) on 12 December I said "YES" to the husband of my dreams. Amazing memories were made with our 23 guests. In the words of my grandmother: "there are 2 people on the dance floor, but it feels like 200."
Yes, we went to Table Bay Hotel for the Sunday evening and then after an amazing buffet breakfast drove 7 hours to the amazing views of Misty Mountains Reserve, Tsitsikamma in the Eastern Cape. We had an adrenaline-filled honeymoon with bungee jumping, kayaking, ziplining, quad bike and braai picnics. The most memorable holiday ever.
I got engaged in September 2019 and I have NEVER tried on a long white dress, nevermind a wedding dress. The excitement was just too much and although I knew my wedding was more than a year away I HAD to go and try on some dresses. I booked a slot at Bride and Co. Cape Town and my famous last words was "just to have a look." The first dress I tried on, we bought on the spot and a year later it was still my dream dress (and I rarely commit without doubt).
My hair was an up and down battle, literally. I have been growing my hair since grade 7 for my wedding and I promised myself I would wear it down if it was long enough... needless to say... it was an updo. Lol. My makeup was just an INSANE moment when Anneri from Mooigemaak turned me around at my trial. What an insane moment to see those years of pinterest pictures come to life PERFECTLY.
My shoes was a representation of my personality. I knew I had to wear flat shoes, because I am extremely tall and when I came across white Sissy Boy sneakers covered in rhinestones my HEART SKIPPED A BEAT.
Jewellery and accessories was an impulse buy from Lovisa. Their sales are amazing ;).
Lingerie was a gift from my bridesmaid at my kitchen tea. What a awkward moment to open this gift with your mother-in-law on your left and my mother & grandmother opposite me. Nevertheless, a gift well used. Haha.
We got married at Rickety Bridge Winery in Franschoek. The Friday evening we booked the Manor House and Basse Provence through Rickety Bridge. My 3 bridesmaids, mother and I stayed at the amazing Manor House. My husband, groomsmen and their plus ones stayed at Basse Provence. We utilised the same houses for the night of the wedding and had all the "young ones" (bridesmaid, groomsmen and plus ones) stay over. This was definitely memorable, made our wedding an entire weekend and not just a few hours.

A year prior to my engagement (2 years ago) I embarked on a weightloss journey due to some health concerns by my doctor. By using healthier choices and utilising that gym membership I paid for, but never used, I lost a total of 32kgs.
I also wanted to keep it minimal. We opted for some shades of pink, white, cream and greenery. This was an amazing contrast with the rolling mountains and vineyards of the franschoek valley. We got married outside on the green lawn under a white arch and shades of blush pink seasonal flowers done by Franschoek Flowers (which included tulips). The lighting included naked bulbs hanging in a single string over each table and a fairy light wall behind our bridal table. All decor and furniture was done by Baie Goeters from Wellington.

We opted for a more "chilled" look and given the hot weather we decided the groomsmen will wear white shirts, blush pink (ballet pink) bowtie, light grey pants, a brown leather belt matching their brown shoes. The shirt, pants and bowtie we got from Eurosuit in Cape Town and belt from Woolworths. My husband wore the same, but opted for the blazer and a long tie in the same ballet pink.
My bridesmaids definitely did not look conventional. I opted for a short, tight dress with long sleeve, the dress was entirely covered in silver sequins and I got it from Sissy Boy.

I was so blessed to have come across Chris Rain who is an amazing artist from Langebaan. He made our pre-drinks extremely memorable.
Ruan Burmeister from Audiomeister was our DJ, he organised everything for me and truly went out of his way to make it extremely memorable with lights, sound and smoke machines.
