Ah, where to even begin! I think the most memorable moment of our wedding day was putting on my wedding gown that my mom and gran had spent months putting together. Just a little background, my gran studies in Paris at a design college and taught my mom everything she knew on how to design and sew. Fast forward 29 years later, it was only natural for my mom and gran to team up together and put together their creative minds to make my fairytale dream dress.
I can't quite explain the feeling of putting on a garment so sentimental and special. I am a traditionalist, and have always said that I wanted to get married in a traditional, regal gown. It was only fitting that we drew inspiration from the Duchess of Cambridges', Kate Middleton's, own wedding gown to achieve this very details and royal effect. I will treasure the moment and the dress forever.
My husband (still feels weird saying haha) and I decided to do an all African honeymoon trip around South Africa's best kept secret locations. Our trip began along the garden route, stopping along the way at various BNB's, then heading up North to Graaf Reniet and Tarkastad, finally ending near Mosselbay at a Private Game Reserve called Botlierskop before heading back to Cape Town to start the year. It was truly the best thing we could have ever done. Unwinding, catching up on sleep, exploring the places and of course eating to our hearts content.
I was the luckiest bride to have such a talented and creative family. To summarise, my mom and gran made my dress, my aunt the flower decor and wedding cake and my cousin the wedding photographer & videographer.
We got married in the church the day before our reception which was held at the Beloftebos Farm in Stanford.
