Highlights & memorable moments
My mother loves taking pictures. There was this one time when my brother, he was approximately 13 years old, said to my mother on his way to school that he hopes she has such a lovely day and that she may witness something so beautiful that she would look at it with her own eyes and not through the lens of a camera.
Without no one expecting it, I opened the doors to the chapel myself. For a few second I just stood in the door, allowing the moment to sink in, leaving our guests breathless.
“Kyk daar!” (name) tried to whisper but the tangible silence carried her voice and filled the air with wonder.
This moment, this single most memorable moment was not seen through the eyes of any one. It was to be witnessed with their own eyes and not through a lens. Even the photographers could not capture the moment through a lens.
Should you ask any of our guests the most memorable moment of our wedding day, it is this moment that made an everlasting imprint.
My groom was breathless, sobbing, proud, and in love with me all over again.
Pianist Charles Jordaan playing:
"Beautiful, crazy"
"She can't help but amaze me
The way that she dances
Ain't afraid to take chances
And wears her heart on her sleeve
Yeah, she's crazy
But her crazy's beautiful to me"
Ever so graciously, my hero, my best friend and guardian, my dad, walked me down the aisle, entrusting me to my groom, who took over my daddy's role as hero, best friend and guardian.
Oh, how covid tricked us out of a honeymoon in Mauritius. Nothing, not even Covid 19 could extinguish our honeymoon vibe.
Garden rout; the ultimate road trip was next on our bucket-list and off we went.
One don't describe the Garden route you simply ask: Have you ever been? And if not, then when do you plan to go?
My travel buddy (oooohhh it is so lekker to say that he is my husband) took me kayaking & hiking to the most beautiful waterfall in Knysna.
We toured in George, Knysna and Wilderness. On this route you'll discover gardens, lakes, beaches, forests, lagoons and mountains, good food and shopping.
Toured the Cango Caves and enjoyed a beautiful sunset on a sunset cruise.
Ernst and I both are content individuals and we wanted to embrace our personalities as well as the love for life we have, to be portrait in the theme of the wedding. The theme uniquely created itself, the flowers and decor was born as our dream and love intertwined. Marrying the love of my life inspired a classical-rustic, elegant wedding.
Renaissance influenced flower bouquets, created with various deep romantic colours, complimented our personalities and the most awe-inspiring wedding gown.
My wedding dress found me.
Belinda van Deventer from Whimsical Bridal, Centurion love what she does and conveyed that love, by inviting me into the mysterious wonder of allowing “Danica” (my wedding dress) to find me. It was love at first ‘fitting’. A design made in heaven.
Candlewood is no ordinary venue.
Only three things are most important in planning a wedding:
1. Wedding co-ordinator
2. Wedding co-ordinator
3. Wedding co-ordinator
And Candlewood offers all three in the form of the very talented, creative Wille van Zyl.
Although the wedding day is the highlight of a well-dreamed up plan that comes together, Willie and his team made sure that we embraced everything working towards our dream day. Patiently he listened and evaluated who we are and picked up on detail we never thought is known to others.
His suggestions were respectful towards our budget, likings and always had a way to provide what we thought might not be feasible.
As mentioned on their website (https://www.candlewoodsvenue.co.za/), Candlewoods Boutique Venue promises a specialized service with a personal touch that made our wedding a delightful experience. Professional co-ordinators assisted us from the beginning until the last minute (literally) of our wedding. We received the best care and attention.
The chapel offers the perfect setting for a wedding with a difference. Guests were enchanted in the Banquet hall by the imported crystal chandeliers, custom made table cloths printed by Granaat Roes, masses of flowers, candles and the most elegant silver tableware.
We can vouch that Candlewoods Boutique Venue provided an exquisite experience and sent us off with everlasting memories.
Guests were spoiled with a gin & harvesting table overflowing with scrumptious goodies. Each guest was treated with a personalised Morgenster lemon infused olive oil gift.
During the banquet, a delicious three course plated meal accompanied with a selection of premium South African wines was elegantly served. Dinner was concluded with a selection from eight mouth-watering deserts.

We danced the night away entertained by the very talented DJ, Marouise Schoeman.
“The benevolent man leaves an inheritance that endures to his children’s children.” (Proverbs 13:22a)
Carmia (https://www.carmianelphotography.co.za/) gave us the gift of an inheritance. Every picture is worth a thousand words. Individually each picture takes us back to the moments, the scent of flowers, the feeling of endless love and adoration. Great is our gratitude for our wedding encyclopaedia, for years to come.

I lined up beauty treatments with one seriously talented well qualified Somatologist, Barbara Pierce. Not only was she on top of her game regarding facials and beauty treatments, she did not shy away on sharing her own experiences and shared some good advice that guided me in the right direction. The day of the wedding she helped me to relax and take the day easy.
I am forever grateful for her wonderful work. It was a real pleasure and I loved my make-up that she created for me. I have never looked so beautiful.
Hair treatment
Sheree Steynberg @ Hair & Co. Hair & Co, Centurion is a tranquil Hair Studio where a client’s needs take top priority.
As perfectly described on their webside: “Sheree has trained with Shcwartkopf, Twincare and Redken specialist. She took part in many competitions and places in the top 3 numerous times. Sheree worked backstage with GHD at Africa fashion week in 2012 and South African fashion week in 2013.”
You will admit, I could not go wrong.
Being a 2020 bride stress was part of the package, hence loss of hair. For a future bride-to-be this was a nightmare. With great assistance, advice and skill Ancois and Sheree made sure that I had the best treatment prior to our romantic, elegant wedding day.
The day of the wedding Sheree was calm and collected when she did my, 6 bridesmaids and 2 flower girls’ hair. Being well organised and prepared she knows how to plan prior and knows how to work under great pressure.
As a qualified Somatologist I used progressive relaxation techniques to help me manage stress. I also made use of Aromatherapy oils too improve my sleeping patterns and my overall wellbeing.

The most beautiful characteristics of women is that we all differ. In shape, in size and style. To embrace the individual uniqueness of our 6 bridesmaids, I supplied fabric of my choice, allowing them to have their dresses designed and made to celebrate their own personalities and style.
Part of them having carte blanch with the designs is that a woman who feels good in her clothing has more confidence and that shows. They were picture perfect. When one loves what you wear, you convey that love and my bridesmaid loved themselves on our romantic, elegant wedding, allowing more love to be spread around.
Fabric was bought from Metro.
All of the dresses was made with love by mom and well skilled friends.
I loved how they loved themselves in their specially designed dresses and portrait who they are in their own unique way.

Three words: Candlewood Boutique Venue
World renowned chef Wille van Zyl @ Candlewoods Boutique Venue
Dylan from GCAD and MU Studio
As I said, Candlewoods is a one stop venue. Willie gave us the best idea to create an atmosphere of fun and laughter. His idea was all about the best vibe ever. He suggested that we pick a specific song that whenever guests hear it, they know to take their seats.
DJ Marouise Schoeman and MC Andrea Venturi agreed to "Blah Blah Blah" by Armin van Buuren.
As soon as guests heard the song, they danced back to their seats. It was amazing to experience how everyone picked up on the vibe and joined in.
We danced the night away, DJ Marouise's variety of music ensured a great vibe, high energy, inviting young and old to join in.
