Magical Moments

One thing is for sure, our day was absolutely perfect. The weather, the guests, the ceremony, the food, the vibe. We felt so incredibly grateful and overwhelmed by love. I for one was super relieved that it actually happened, especially after the President canceled our 'original' wedding the 4th April 2020.

A few of my favourite moments:
1. Driving with my bridesmaids to the wedding.
2. Walking down the isle and seeing the love of my life at the other end.
3. When the Pastor said 'you may kiss the bride'.
4. Having our doggies there.
5. Walking into the reception as Mr. & Mrs. on a song from Sophie Tucker, Best Friend. (So good!)
6. There was a moment when I got spun around on our first dance and when I got pulled back, it was like the whole world didn't exist, it was just me and my new husband. That emotion was so powerful, I couldn't help to tear up a bit. Really, the most magical day of my life (so far).

The Honeymoon

Due to covid, we postponed our travel plans until March 2021. My husband refuses to give me any clues. I must say, I am enjoying the mystery.

My Special Day

My dream dress was made by Alena Leena Bridal. It was soft, flowy and romantic. I added an under layer of sequence for a little extra sparkle. My makeup was done by Gareth Coleman that knows exactly how to transform you into a better version of yourself. Hair by Cheryl Parker, an established hair stylist in the fashion industry. My glossy watermelon red nails was done by Minelli Art. My earrings were something borrowed and something blue from Kirsten Goss and our wedding rings were made by Kelly Jay Jewelry. My shoes were a gift from the incredible designer, Penelope Chilvers. It was an incredible ensamble! I truly felt like a queen.

The Venue

We got married in the garden of our home in Hout Bay. We couldn't have asked for a more fitting venue for us. Lush green grass, leafy shady trees, surrounded by incredible mountains. We encouraged our guests to book accommodation in the area.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

Being in the beauty industry this was a part of the wedding I took very seriously. I've been doing skin prep for more than six months. First best thing I did was invest in a cleansing device that transformed my skin's texture. I also used my anti aging device (Wrinkle iron) from Nuskin, religiously. I got into a Dermapen routine of every 4 weeks. Weekly face masks. Incorporated skin probiotics and made sure I drank enough water. As for fitness, I bodytec once a week and I love to work a good boxing and skipping session in. I found that scaling down on red meat also gave great results.

Wedding Elements

The look was clean, minimalistic and romantic. Neutral colours with a touch of wood. Canapés were served in beautiful ceramic bowls and dinner in crisp white platters. Guests had a feast with a family/farm style type dinner. The deep burgandy candles were protected by glass vases. My husband hung bistro lights the day before and it was perfect. The lighting was soft and romantic.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

Deeva from Merwe Wed made the Groom's incredible three piece washed olive green suit. My sister gifted him with a Gucci Bee brooch to wear on his jacket. Super special because my husband is a beekeeper. The groomsmen wore outfits from Trenery and Tread and Miller. One of the groomsmen wore a felt hat by Crystal Birch.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

Wow, wow, wow! Exactly what I envisioned. The incredibly beautiful bridesmaids dresses were made by a local designer called Sindiso Khumalo. She specializes in printing textiles and working with prints. It truly was everything I could ever wish for.

My Captured Moments

Having had to change our wedding day more than once, we soon realized that our date was going to be determined by when our photographers were available. Ayeh Khalatbari and Mischa Durrant powerhouse duo was everything! They really captured our day in all its glory. Our videographer, Jacques Nel. Known as Sunset Savants. This was a winning combo for us.

The Wedding Planner

We were very calm and relaxed in the experienced hands of Kraak Events and Coordinating.

Wedding Transport

I was very lucky to have my maid of honor, my sister drive me and my two bridesmaids to the venue in their classic creamed coloured 1984 Mercedes. We arrived bouncing into the venue on the song 'Madan' by Haska.

Food & Cake

Our caterers were Annalize Buchanan. All our guests could talk about was how incredible the food was. Fresh and tasty. Our wedding cake was a beautiful Hummingbird cake decorated with Bougainvillea made by a friend.

Wedding Stationery

We had an illustration of our 'I do' spot made for us by one of our favourite artists, Michael Chandler. We printed the illustration at the top of our menu's. A special touch I will always cherish.

The Reception and Entertainment

We had MyOhMy Entertainment set up our sound and lighting. This was an important element to the wedding for us. Carla Louw serenaded me down the isle and thoroughly entertained the guests at the canapé area. Carla has such an incredible voice, it was so beautiful to listen to. After dinner we opened the dance floor and DJ King Louis turned up the volume. It was time to celebrate!
