Every bride and groom have their memorable moments of their special day. That is why it is called a special day. Our wedding was no different than a special day.
Our wedding date was supposed to be on 27 June 2020- which got postponed. We took the chance and got married in the level 1 time of Covid. We only had 54 guests, which was hard to cut from our original 130 guest total. But we wouldn't have it any other way than it was.
We wanted the day to show who we are as a couple and what love is all about. The whole day is about love, love for the Lord, love for your new wife or husband, love for your family, love for your friends and love for eating, drinking, dancing and socializing.
We had an incredible backdrop of the Du Toitskloof mountains from the deck where our ceremony were. The speech of our marriage officer was so relevant to our lives and touched so many hearts on that day. The guests welcomed the newly wed couple with rose pedals.
A live band -Redsheep - played while pre-drinks and canapes were swirling around. The bride and groom both have FOMO (fear of missing out) , so we didn't want to leave the venue while everyone was having a good time. That is why we stayed on the venue to take some remarkable photos between the mountains and the long grass.
We then shared special moments with our closest friends and family and ate some canapes before we went in for the reception.
The speeches were short, because we don't want to bore the guests and we are a bunch of people that wants to eat, drink and dance our feet off.
The whole night was so magical and such a blast.
After the venue closed, all of our friends stayed on the venue at Au d' Hex guesthouse, so we all walked to the guesthouse and went on with our wedding celebration until late morning.
My husband booked a honeymoon in Mauritius. Unfortunately we couldn't go of Covid. We decided not to be sad about it, but make the best of what we've have. We then had a Minimoon in Hermanus at my parents loft. We had a great time and had lots of adventures.
I had a very minimalist and timeless look. My hair and make-up was done by my best friend, Mandi Dannhauser. My wedding dress was a secondhand sample gown, which I bought on Stillwhite. I customized the dress according to my needs and added a little more detail to the shoulders. I had minimal jewellery and accessories. My earrings and shoes I bought at Poetry, versatile and very comfortable.
We got married at Au d' Hex Estate. We had a little "university" reunion. All of our closest friends from university stayed at the venue the night before the wedding as well as the night of the wedding. We had a blast and made such amazing memories. It felt like the good old days. I wouldn't had it any other way. The whole weekend was one big PARTY.

I didn't have any treatments or any beauty regime. My husband asked me not to go and change who I am for that day. I must stay true to myself and not to overdo the "wedding look". So all I did, was to eat healthy and walk everyday for 20 minutes with my fiance at that time, talking about the wedding and our lives together.
We wanted our own little touch to the wedding, so we did most of the details ourselves. We ordered our flowers at a local farm near our venue, Adene's flowers. My mom, aunt and closest friends helped with the flower decorations and the bouquets. We hired minimal, colorful furniture at Baie Goeters, because the venue itself is outstanding. Wooden tables with different flowers in small glass pots were our table decoration. Fairy lights dangled from the glass rooftop, which felt like the stars above our heads.

The groomsmen wore all different suits that they already had themselves. The groom bought is olive green suit with his flower tie at Trenery.
I love the mix -match look with bridesmaids. The bridesmaids are very different women, style wise, lenght wise and personality wise. That's why I gave them the freedom to buy their own dress, which they feel comfortable in. The only preference they had, was the color I gave them - pink, burnt orange/ mustard yellow and olive green.
Our marriage officer was Lourens Bester.
Candice Joy photography - the most elegant, natural photos. She is amazing and made us so comfortable. She captured the most precious moments, that wasn't posed at all. We as a couple, were ourselves and at times forgot someone is taking photos of us. She had a second photographer - Embers and envelopes weddings. We didn't have a videographer. We asked our guests to take videos of anything they think is special.
The venue gave us a coordinator to help us with all the arrangements -Lariska Swart.
We had no wedding transport. The wedding and our accommodation was on the same location.
The food was incredible. The venue had an in-house caterer, Jacques Fourie.
My sister made our wedding cake. A 3-in-one cake : cheesecake, red velvet and carrotcake.
We didn't have a lot of stationary, but the table placements, the guest names, the timeline for the day and the menu were done by myself.
We had a live band - Redsheep - playing throughout our canapes and pre-drinks.
Our DJ, sound and lighting was done by Cape Town Jam.
We had no dance lessons. We love to dance, so we thought not to spend money on dance lessons.
